RANTS

Here is were I intend to "publish" some of my thoughts and "rants" on music in general. This part of DAA is however second to the reviews, so don't expect that much activity here until I've worked some more on the bands & records....

The Disclaimer

The idea of language works like this, kids: certain vague concepts must sometimes be abbreviated and "labeled" in order to get a point across, thus pointless labels like "alternative", "industrial", "lo-fi" etc appear. They are useful in the initial phase when bands need to promote and profile themselves, but later they tend to become a nuisance for both artist and fan. I don't try to pidgeonhole the work of these artists, all I want is for people to notice certain kinds of bands that I think deserve more attention and to show currents and connections that have yet to be discovered. I cannot pull off this immense effort if I have to give in to petty political correctness and write an essay on the roots and nuances of every single act. This is the only reason I use a lot of monickers like "prog wave", "avant-garde techno" and "pronk" on this site, not to be a smartass. In plain english: Stop bitchin' and start readin'! This is exclusive information for your eyes only. Entertain yourself!
