M.I.A.
Thruster
As previously mentioned in the "Back in Time" review, some serious Power Metal reminiscences can be reported on "M.I.A.", an album Thruster recorded back in 1986 and only spread as a tape LP. The band had turned completely to this Metal genre, and getting right to the point the most important fact, "M.I.A." belongs to the best in Power Metal that was ever produced in the United States! It is tragic that we had to wait more than 20 years, and that such an endowed troop could not enjoy the full well-earned success they deserved. Because back then the material of "M.I.A." would have been featured on the overrated vinyl suckers of Paradoxx or Militia, their value would have tripled. Nevertheless, the positive message of this tragedy remains that "M.I.A" is accessible from now on to EVERYBODY. One does not have to be a millionaire anymore to be taken up in the internal circle of the collectors mafia to be allowed to listen to milestones of Heavy Metal history. And you should learn from this right away when you collect Metal vinyl for Metals sake and you're not one of those who hoard still-sealed records en masse (What's the sense of that btw?).
The heavy production previously heard on Thrusters "Back in Time" EP was doubled on M.I.A., it hammers and roars from all corners. Ecstatic solos slash thru the eardrums, a double-bass thunderstorm breaks loose as Armageddon would have broken upon listeners. Perfectly performed Power Metal, a superior level of songwriting as well as playful world-class niveau was the result of one of America's most complex and technically perfect (but the same time straight-forward playing) US Metal band's recording session. Now the venerable Black Knight influence on "Back in time" mixes with pure Cities/Metal Church parallels to a prototypical Power Metal par excellence, a predicate that I do not award to any band everyday. Thruster are Power Metal in perfection! They always made sure that in spite of the driving power, the melodic parts came never too briefly, and every song isn't missing a unique refrain. So youd better take the recommendation of the hour and visit the homepage of the exalted Thruster to get your own copy of "M.I.A.". Perhaps there are other labels around, interested in doing what "M.I.A." deserved already 20 years ago, to be published on vinyl. (FutureSynner)
