Out of all the FAITHFUL BREATH albums, this one was the most difficult for me to find, though now I see this thing on quite a few sale lists. They started life in the mid 70's, believe it or not, as a progressive rock band, "Fading Beauty" has actually been re-released on CD! By the time "Gold 'n' Glory" came around in 1984, they had changed their sound to metal, and as far as I'm concerned this is one of the first Viking metal bands in existence. The lead singer even wore a Viking horn helmet on stage and on their album covers! The style of metal is anthemic metal, especially tracks like "Crazy In Metal" and "Rock Rebels", and the guitar work is rather simplistic but it gets the job done. "Gold 'n' Glory" was released on Mausoleum, and I am a bit surprised that the Belgium label that signed tons of metal acts didn't pick up on this later album, which is just as good as their debut for Mausoleum. I believe the band is no longer active (They split after this record and form a new band called RISK, which release some amazing stuff too - Charly), but I did find out that they released quite a few albums before the more well known two. There is a double CD floating around that contains both "Gold 'n' Glory" and "Skol" on it.
