The more I think about it, the harder it gets for me to try to come up with a less Metal-sounding name than 'PARK STAFF'. 'Courthouse Janitor'? 'Schoolbus Driver'?? 'Bicycle Repair Man'??? There is a very good reason why this single has eluded collectors for decades and it's not only that it was (most likely) manufactured in miniscule quatities, but the sheer anonymity of this release has made it a particularly low-flying item. Hand on heart: would you have taken a chance on a sleeveless 7" with THIS band name, THOSE titles and a 2-digit price tag? Me neither. Thankfully someone finally did, and now we can add yet another impossible Scandinavian 7" to our want lists because this is a quite remarkable and respectable HM rarity, way above the early 80's Norwegian average. Sure, there's some roughness present, but it's far from the stumbling amateurism of other Norway 'kült' singles like REX BEGONIA, NAPALM or MOBILE VULGUS. Even the more familiar BLACK ANGELS sounds plain and 2nd rate next to these forgotten masters.
Both tracks (!) are absolute rippers and the guitar work owes plenty to early Maiden - even reaching shameless rip-off levels at the instrumental first half of "A Problem With You", though it later develops into a stompy, pounding 70's Priest-type anthem. They incorporate some further familiar moves on the A-side "They Don't Know", which is just perfect Forgotten Early 80's Scanda-Steel, like all our favourite moments from those early Silver Mountain or Zone Zero demos rolled into one song. And again, also Maiden.
Frankly this is the kind of release that will get ANY type of 80's Heavy Metal vinyl collector salivating, whatever their prime focus, so best snatch a copy when and wherever you come across it. Which will most likely be never and nowhere.
