It should be fairly obvious to anyone with the least bit of insight into the olde Italian Metal scene why this single would pique one's interest. Not that anyone would be ignorant or foolish enough to presume there's a connection between these Milanese and their more famous Veronian almost-namesakes, but c'mon, who in their right mind wouldn't be curious about 'the other Black Holes'? Or any other Italian 80's release with a crecent moon on the cover and featuring the word 'Black' for that matter...
Right from the start I get reminded of my inadequacies as a reviewer when it comes to these very early 80's, 70's-rock'n'prog-inspired releases. I'm positive there's lots of references to be made here, but I'm sorry to say I'm just too ignorant of the source-material to make any clever comparisons.
What I can do however is assure you that this single is quite a bit above the averate HR/HM-crossover 7" of the time. Both (yeah, BOTH, just not the A-side for once) tunes are real growers and at least to narrow-minded 80's-only metalhead like yours truly there's plenty of originality to go around. The boogie opening riff of "Ready For Me" is quickly forgiven as the quirky time-changes and catchy chorus more than makes up for it. The flipside "Leave Behind Your Cares" comes with an even higher hit-factor - imagine an obscure 'Detroit Rock City' with proggy keys and a galloping, pompy cherry of a middle-riff. Add excellent musicianship to that and I'm almost eager to recommend this one.
