IN.FEAR was an Athens-based group performing in a hybrid style somewhere between Industrial, Punk and Metal. According to the liner notes of their only known release, 1995’s “Pain’s Empire” demo tape, the band consisted of Yannis (vocals, samples), Jim (guitars, backing vocals) and T. Davellos (programming). As for the actual music, the mix of harsh vocals, grinding guitars, socio-politically-minded samples and programmed bass guitar/drums makes for valid references to GODFLESH in particular, but also MINISTRY and Hardcore-influenced Death/Grind acts such as RIGHTEOUS PIGS. One can only guess, but it seems likely that IN.FEAR were closer to the Greek Punk scene rather than its metallic counterpart – an argument further strengthened by the lyrical content, demo liner notes and the band’s inclusion on a handful of Punk/Alternative compilation tapes.
