Detrimental

DETRIMENTAL was a pretty obscure Techno-Thrash act from Nea Michaniona – a minor town located some 30-35 kilometers from Thessaloniki and probably most known for its voluminous supply of fresh fish. The band consisted of Giannis (vocals), Giorgos (guitars), Kyriakos (bass) and Panagiotis Sakitzis (drums), the latter being the only member we know by his full name.

It’s not sure if the band stayed together long enough to release any material, since we don’t have any record of them putting out even as much as a rehearsal tape. We do have some song titles to share though, including “Fighting Death”. “Wolfman” and “Life is Wild”. The band’s self-proclaimed description of the music is Techno-Thrash, which in their opinion lies stylistically somewhere between Thrash- and Heavy Metal and constitutes a combination of melody, speed, harder parts, focus on rhythmic changes and of course technical prowess.

Apparently, things weren’t exactly easy-going for a Thrash Metal band in a small town like Nea Michaniona back in the days – which might explain why it’s been so difficult to find any information about DETRIMENTAL (let alone get our hands on the actual music…) If you happen to know anything else about the band or its members, please do the world a favor and enlighten us on the topic!
