Having formed in Athens in 1995, BLOODSHED made their demo debut with 1997’s “Warpath” tape. According available sources (we haven’t been able to locate this recording yet), the music was in the Heavy/Thrash vein. However, by the time of their sophomore effort “Fairyland” (1998), BLOODSHED had transformed into a distinctively European-sounding Power/Speed unit. Draped in exquisite and professional-looking artwork courtesy of the guitarist Antreas Sotiropoulos (he also did an excellent job of designing the second BLIZZARD demo, among others), “Fairyland” exhibits a band with clear potential. The songs are melodic and occasionally technical with delightful twin- guitar workouts and thankfully avoid succumbing to the most obvious Flower Metal clichés. Moreover, a lot of effort seem to have gone into writing well-structured material. One example would be the title-track, which builds momentum through a glorious pre-chorus/chorus pair only to explode into a delightful instrumental section that serves as the climax to the song.
Perhaps realizing the ubiquity (there’s like 22 different BLOODSHEDs playing various forms of metal, no kidding) and the somewhat ill-fitting connotations of their current moniker, BLOODSHED rechristened themselves as EVERDOME in 2000 and proceeded with a more technical Power/Doom-oriented direction.
