Along with ANGEL HEART, DECEPTOR, SACRAMENT etc., Athen’s BLIND JUSTICE belonged to the “golden generation” of late-1980s Greek Heavy/Power metal, who made quite a name for themselves in underground circles but for some reason or another never got around to release a proper album – at least not back in the day. The band was formed in 1988, performing celebrated gigs at at places like Maxim, Rodon and AN club as well as releasing two demo tapes in 1989 and 1990 respectively.
By the time of the debut demo “In the Name of Justice” (1989) – originally distributed without cover art – BLIND JUSTICE consisted of Kostas Maskalidis (vocals), Michalis “Mike G” Galiatsos (guitars – NIGHTFALL, SNOWBLIND, etc.), Chris Zafiropoulos (bass) and George Karahalios (drums – SACRED BLOOD, SNOWBLIND, SPITFIRE, etc.) In many ways, this remains the band’s pinnacle release, featuring an inimitable vocal performance by K. Maskalidis along with the fervid guitar pyrotechnics of a young Mike G. But above all, BLIND JUSTICE combined inspired Heavy/Power metal songwriting with an energetic performance that makes the music jump out 3D-style and grab the listener by the throat.
Following the release of the second demo “Time for Justification” (1990), band activity started to dwindle as guitarist/co-founder Mike G joined NIGHTFALL and vocalist/co-founder K. Maskalidis left the country. However, some twenty years later the torch was lit again and BLIND JUSTICE reunited with a new lineup to finally release a full-length CD. Bearing the same name as the band’s first release and containing rerecordings of earlier demo material, “In the Name of Justice” saw the light in 2016 with international distribution through Sleaszy Rider Records.
