Attic Dust

ATTIC DUST was a Kalamatan group founded in the early-1990s, centered around mainman Angelos Patikopoulos (guitars) along with a rather extensive lineup consisting of Sophia Ikonomaki (vocals), Kostas Theodosopoulos (vocals), Agelos Patikopolous (guitars), Elias Iordanou (guitars, keyboards, piano), Avraam Vagelis (bass), John Koroveis (keyboards) and finally three different session drummers (on the same release!), Jim Komninos (FOURTH DIMENSION), Lakis Zaios (MEDIEVAL DEATH) and Stergios Kourou (ESCAPE).

The band’s one and only demo “Pathway to Fear” (1993) was recorded at Rock Sound Studios (Thessaloniki) and contains Progressive Heavy/Power Metal with many elongated instrumental passages, which summon a otherworldy, eerie atmosphere. The latter is further enhanced by dark-tinted, occasionally thrashing riffs and the near-operatic vocal performance of Sophia Ikonomaki. Too bad ATTIC DUST never went beyond demo stage, because this band could’ve achieved great things.
