V/A - Northcoast Steel LP '88

Post by DaN »

For daniel the artíste..

http://rapidshare.com/files/296935742/N ... _LP_88.rar

I picked up a still-sealed copy of this one on a record fair recently. Apparently the dealer in question had come across a number of stock-copies and was selling them for roughly €30. I hogged the last one but maybe I should have bought more? Anyways, it's no immortal classic as far as compilations go, but well worth checking out for the 3 last songs.

@Kenny: Tell me everything you know about ABSOLUTE ZERO!

A big thanks goes out from me as well. Obviously being the CD collector that I am, these vinyl only compilations go unheard and overlooked in most cases.

Thanks.

Doesn't the beginning of BATTERY's 'Mercury' sound a bit like CRUSH's 'Unborn'?

Thanks :)

Not too amazing no, but always nice to hear new bands. Battery was good, Roadie's Nightmare and the Centurion track, though I don't think their LP is too great. Absolute Zero was certainly the strangest. The best BAND on there is Nightcrawler, 'Hangman' is probably the weakest track on the EP so I haven't a clue why they included it here, but the A-side however is pure gold.

I didnt see this posted yet.

ABSOLUTE ZERO is a weird band. I have thier demo from 1988. Started in 1986 as DAMIENS VIPER opening for bands like JAGGED EDGE and BLACK DEATH. At that time the lineup was...

Screamer - Vocals
Infamous Slime - Guitars/Keyboards
Rodney Rose - Bass
Jim Trivanovich - Drums

Changed thier name to Absolute Zero in 1988. Kicked out the guitarist and replaced him with Jim Trivanovich. Recorded thier demo "Piracy" alongside THREE other demo tapes between here and 1990 when they split. I have an old issue of "The Cleveland Report" that tells "Screamer"s real name, I have to dig it out. Jim and Rodney are awesome guys and are currently in a classic/southern rock band with the bassists from PURGATORY.

EDIT------------------------------

Screamer's real name iws BOB SHERIDAN. He was a tatoo artist in in the Ohio area in the 80s.
