Hey Roman, how many cm is an inch? 1.000.000 perhaps?
lol

Ok, I'll have to make a few things clear now, in all seriousness, so listen:

AMPLE DESTRUCTION is overrated!!!

It's a great album, but there are soooo many that are better! "Only" 3 songs I would call really really outstanding, namely GENERALLY HOSTILE, THE WATCHING and some parts of THE CRUCIFIX.

AMPLE DESTRUCTION is not the holy cow of Power Metal, period. 8)

Discuss

Hmm, can't agree with this one Roman, it's not the holy grail but a damn fine top 5 US-metal contender for sure. Vocals and guitarwork are topnotch. The songwriting is great as well as the raw production. The best song for me is Under The Knife. THIS RECORD REIGNS SUPREME!!!!!!! I think it is as great as (here we go again) Metal From Hell

From JAG PANZER'S Ample Destruction i like all the tracks(instead of the first EP which i don't like anyone) and i consider it masterpiece just for all the tracks one of 50 best US records for sure.I have also purchased Mechanized Warfare when it came out and it is surprisingly superb.I have also the Dissident Alliance which is CRAP.And Chain Of Command is very good too.The other albums of JP i have never heard.

To discuss about such a GODLY album is pretty hard for me. Murderous tracks like Symphony of terror, Harder than steel, Reign of the tyrants, The watching, Generally hostile and The Crucifix will be the some of the purest pieces of US steel ever forged. Melodic and aggressive, raw with killer guitars and superb perfomance on vocals, the true meaning of ''heavy metal'' for me (along with a few more...). I already said enough. 5 swords, 10 shields, 100 spears, whatever, Ample destruction simply deserves the highest possible rating.

If it's overrated it is only so in the most vague sense of the word - perhaps a 7-8/10 record and not 10/10. There are many other old US Metal releases I hold higher, but I can see why many hold it dear. Ín 1984 it was a VERY heavy and aggressive album for its time and place. When you're so deeply rooted in the Metal Underground as most people here it's easy to forget how much comparatively weak and feeble crap that was released back then. Metal is more than the sum of it's parts and the pure spirit of this album proves it.

And "Reign Of The Tyrant" is the best song of the album, regardless of personal taste :P

'Agree very much with DaN. One of the most werful albums of the first half of the eighties. Few bands have developed so powerful sound at that time. High historical value.

I must admit that this album is one of my faves when talking about the US metal scene of these good old eighties ; and Jag Panzer should have carry on playing this way instead of the music they play now . "Generally Hostile" and "reign of the Tyrant" are certainly pure metal brilliance. The best of all Jag Panzer old recordings and of course 1000 000 times superior to all their nowadays releases .

The lyrics to "Warfare" are some of the best ever in metal, "I was raised in hell and I'm spreading the seed" with his airraid siren vocals is timeless.

Great record for me, but not the best material by Panzer. It's overrated perhaps in 'obscure metal' circles, but most general metal people don't know it exists. For a record of its calibre I would perhaps start to call it overrated if it had achieved the overall visibility of say, Helloween's troika of early records.

As long as it's just obscuro freaks like us that are discussing it, it'll never be overrated.

Agree !!!

Btw, what other Jag Panzer albums are worthwhile? I never bothered for further investigation. I only know the first EP and LP.

Chain of Command, The Fourth Judgement, Age of Mastery, Mechanised Warfare, Thane to the Throne, Casting the Stones

basically avoid Dissident Alliance and everything else deserves many listens. My favourite is The Fourth Judgement.

I woudln't call it overrated in a general way, because the average metalfan has no idea who what Jag Panzer is. But in metalgeek circles, I definitely think it's overrated. Lots of people talk about that record as if it's the heaviest album from the 80s. I don't really like the album. Maybe I should listen to it some more, who knows...

P.s.: Metal From Hell kicks the shit out of Ample Destruction!!!!!!!!!!!
