Silex was the first Heavy Metal band with female vocals in Perú. Formed as a rock band in 1982 by the brothers Herbert and Jorge "Coco" Kruger on guitars and drums with Alvin on bass and Mario on vocals, they recorded a song called "Rockeando en el Baño".
By 1984 they had a new lineup, the Kruger brothers with Richard Pescio on bass and Iván Delgado on vocals and Kike Carrasco on second guitar. Now with a Judas Priest influence they recorded a song called "Vienen por Mi". Later that year Iván was replaced by Diana Yabar on vocals and with this classic lineup they recorded the song "Realidad é Imaginación" in the Pico Ego Aguirre Studio and gott airplay on his radio show. By 1985 they re-recorded "Realidad é Imaginación" and "Fumigando el Mundo" on the Gerald Paz studio and presented the songs on the TV show of Gerardo Manuel called "Tiempos de Rock", now with the ex vocalist Iván Delgado on second guitar. Kike Kluver replaced Iván on guitars and started to played a lot of shows, like in the San Antonio de Padua Auditorium with Praxis, Maristas School with Overkill, Cowboys in Javier Prado with Headwork, Temporal, Overkill and in the Garcilazo University in front of 1000 people.
Kike then joined Overkill and was replaced by Andrés of Headwork. During that period they have a dual guitar style like Iron Maiden. By 1986 Jorge was replaced by Negro Zubiaga on drums. That year they were to play at the Metal I festival in the Saenz Peña Theater with Masacre, Orgus, Almas Inmortales but finally they didn't because of problems with the organization. Finally in 1987 Silex split up. In the 90s Herbert Kruger and Richard Pescio joins the commercial rock band Sangre Púrpura - the band is still active until now with Richard and Jorge Kruger. Herbert was part of the Orgus return in the 2000s and now play in the fusion rock band Quasar with his brother Jorge Kruger.
