The Bridge Album LP 1982
Label: Bridge Records #: BR001 Country: England
Info: Extremely rare ‘local sampler’ compilation featuring bands that recorded at Bridge Studio. You get four NWOBHM songs, three of which are top-notch. The other songs vary from pop to rasta to indie, and they’re uniformly bad.

Side A:
1. ROUGH CUT - Gunship
Good NWOBHM with a tough but melodic sound. I’m surprised this wasn't used on the 'NWOBHM' CD bootleg series, considering another song from this album was featured thereon. Excellent way to kick things off!
2. STELLA REBELLA - School Life
Insipid pop rock fluff with repetitive 'school sucks' lyrics. This is the kind of song that makes people leery of compilation albums with mixed genres; you just know there’s going to be at least one song that completely sucks.
3. HERETIC - In Time
Pretty good; it has a moody atmosphere that so many NWOBHM acts did well. Best comparison in terms of mood and pacing is Vagabond’s ‘Deep Water’. They released one EP.
4. SWITCHBACK - How You Made Me Cry
  A rather lightweight rock song.
5. NORTH STAR - It's Only Money
Laid-back rock-metal from this obscure NWOBHM outfit who managed one release.

Side B:
1. MINT - Underworld
  Rasta tripe. Ouch.
2. TEMPEST RIDE - Another Time, Another Place
Not only the best track on the album, but one of the true, defining moments of the entire NWOBHM. The band quickly changed names to LYADRIVE and failed to record anything else as impressive. Years later this was included on volume 7 of the ‘NWOBHM’ CD bootleg series.
3. THE JON BAND - Dressed in Cream
  Dippy pop song.
4. CHERRY ARMADILLO - Cocaine Cocktail
A real mess of prog-alternative-indie rock crap.
5. TAKEAWAY - Reflections
This is sort of a slow pop-rock song served up ‘70s-style.
