Thank you, DaN for another eye-opener. Canadian Inuit HM/HR. From 1985. Duh! The frontiers seem to be further away than ever.

This reminds me of the the kind of oddities I used to pick up at flea markets in the 90's and early 00's. I was poor but still vinyl-dependant, and I remember how I kinda got a kick out of just buying dirt-cheap, weird, exotic albums, putting down the needle in the grooves and having no - idea - whatsoever as to what would come out of the speakers, other than that it would be about as far from any form of Rock Music I'd be confortable with. Am I alone in hearing the French vocals?

To me it sounds like the vocalist is singing in English but with a strong foreign accent, (could be French), but he sounds drunk & is slurring his words. English phrases just keep on leaping out at me. Very strange.
If i said it sounds like The Crucifucks covering Hanoi Rocks would anyone know what i meant?
Overall it's quite a likeable record. The short upbeat tracks are enthusiastically performed & though the songs are somewhat dated for 1985 & a little naive sounding to my jaded 2022 ears, that's probably also a large part of what i'm enjoying about it. It genuinely sounds like they're having a blast & the guitarist in particular is pretty good when he cuts loose on the solos. Nothing for Yngwie to lose sleep over, but perfectly fitting for this type of material.
It does overstay it's welcome when they get all serious & reflective on a few songs towards the end of the album, but if they'd been ruthless editors they could have pared the LP down into a pretty nifty EP.

Okay, in an attempt to clarify what i meant about hearing 'English' lyrics i had a go at translating what i heard on track 2 "Nutaraq (Poor Child)". The results are pretty amusing (at least to me). Hit play & sing along:

Glad you found it amusing & somewhat convincing DaN. Interesting that although English is your 2nd language you were stil able to hear what i meant about hearing English phrases. I'd assumed the likelihood was that my brain was hardwired to decipher my own language, but maybe it's not that straight forward. Any neuro-scientists/linguists here able to explain this phenomenon?

I'm amazed that anyone took that comparison as a recommendation, though it was meant as one. Just assumed i'd be in a minority of one in liking both of those seemingly unrelated bands.

There are definitely some french intonations in whatever language is used. Great great music by the way, that I’ll place next to the amazing Native North American compilations on Light In The Attic. We all know that, but there’s always amazing music to be discovered!

Kit, I indeed don’t have much friends that are both into the Crucifucks and Hanoi Rocks, so thank for that: I’m feeling incredibly less weird and lonely with such sentences!
