Robespierre NWOBHM DEMO!

Post by pzman »

Guys i think i requested this way back but finally got it. Anyways DaN, IB, avenger and all you guys should hear this if you havent already. Great raw and dark piece of NWOBHM in the vein of Venom, Hell, Angel Witch, Warfare etc. Wish they'd recorded some more. Sound quality isnt that great but who's gonna complain? Enjoy!

1. Die you heathen
2. Backs to the wall
3. I'm a Cannibal
4. March into hell

192 kbps

This ultrahyperrare obscurity ROCKS!!! Thanks for sharing.Quite primitive NWOBHM but at the same time very rocking songs, catchly riffs with a bit of Punk(Oi) influences (These choruses) I think.

Been listening a lot to this one the last few weeks. One of the coolest NWOBHM demos ever. Truly raw stuff.

I have heard this demo, it's truly EVIL! Could have enjoyed it more with a better sound, but it's still listenable. The first song reminds a bit of the atmosphere of the first Pentagram album. Cool song titles.

Eh, I didn't think it was that great. I'm A Cannibal is definitely a cool song, but I didn't care for the rest. I think the comparisons to Hell and Angel Witch were way off base.

Didnt like the first 2 songs? well thats your opinion DMR. But for me the demo definitely brings to mind the aforementioned bands - they all seem to have that raw, evil, dark sound.

'Backs to the wall' has a small Hell flavour especially on the vocals lines of the chorus "...Don't underestimate the power of the righteous!". Also the starting solo of 'I am a cannibal' brings to mind the starting one of 'Save us from those who would save us'. Those sound similarities might be entirely coincidental though. It's definitely more on the Venomic/Hellish/Deliverance side, but I can't say that I hear any obvious Angel Witch references.

Yeah, I can understand the Hell reference here but Angel Witch not much. Venom is the best reference in my opinion though. And it's very cool stuff. Much better than most of the ultra rare NWOBHM stuff I've heard.

It's not too bad, it's interesting... I'll be honest the vocals bring to mind some early 80s psychobilly shit, especially "I'm A Cannibal", totally reminds me of Sparky's voice from Demented Are Go!

I may be castrated for such a comment, hahahah.
