Old Soviet Metal demos/tape-albums

Post by DaN »

We really need a thread dedicated to this extremely exciting and rather uncharted scene. Thanx to places like Mastersland and Metalrus (and friends familiar with ze russian gibberish - credit where credit is due, Tony!) these gems finally gets some exposure.

I could go on and on about how much I've been listening to CCCP Rok lately, but I'm a tad to drunk for Metallic Overintellectualization so I'll just present you with one of my top faves - the outstanding KONSUL!

Here's an official live tape from '87 (pay extra attention to track #6 - riffing so beautiful it'll give you a bellyache). The '85 "Proklyatiy Mir" tape will soon follow. Seriously on par with the early ARIA-stuff, folks.

I'm sure there's other people here who frequent the Russian forums (Boris? Metalpielko? Metalmaster?) so please share your finest finds here.

I have some mp3's of Konsul live. It includes the same 7 tracks with names for the 6th and 7th songs(which is Chernaya liliya and Burokrat) but I have it listed from '88 not '87. Do you know which is correct?

Nope, got this from Destrozer and he said it was from '87. I actually got it without any titles at all, but I recognized 5 of them from the demo. Think you could compare your copy with this one and let us know which one is the best?

I did, and they are both the same, even ripped at the same quality. I think I intially got the mp3s from Miskatonic, although I'm not sure who was the original uploader.

Yeah, I figured some of these recordings might still be available on the russian sites, but their server seem to be down more often than not so a rapidshare link should be in order.

Awesome thread! Haven't been able to check neither Corroseum nor the Russian forums for a while since I am in exile in Lithuania... but I'm downloading the Konsul stuff right now (thanks Dan + Destrozer) and if Metalmaster could upload some ARIA demo that would be fantastic. I'll see what I can contribute with...

Edit: off topic

I'm just without internet access on a regular basis actually, not worse... the exile is otherwise shitty studies, but beer is cheap.

Back on topic a bit:
ARIA will finish their current "Geroi Asfalta 20 years" tour in Moscow in march 2008 with KIPELOV on vocals and MAVRIN playing guitar! Great news for the ones who'd make the effort of going there. (http://www.mastersland.com/content/view/1464/41/)

In the Metalrus thread on KONSUL (great band!) there are links to two other recordings, "Prokljatij mir" from 87 and another from 1989. Can't download them cause the server just seem to accept russian downloaders. Maybe someone else can try getting hold of it and then putting it on Rapidshare? Or I'll try again later...

Here's the "Prokljatij Mir" tape which I had since earlier:

I wasn't aware of the '89 recording before though. Texting Destrozer now since he's still in Russia and maybe he can help out. This is importat business, folks!

Seems there's a 3rd studio recording from 1990 mentioned on thispage. Let's all join the quest for more KONSUL!
