Good to know - I (might) agree. And sorry for my incorrect assumption - your somewhat aggressive tone may have mislead me (well, you later stated you thought it was rather alright to finish some of the baddie people off, though).

On topic (desperately): Bought the Aragorn Noonday CD a few months back and thought most of it was pretty bad. Strangely some of their stuff is utterly brilliant - especially Black Ice!

Everyone has their own tastes, no need to freak out if you disagree with others' picks. And any band is gonna have some bad songs.

Quick replies: Demon... you can make one great album out of the best tracks from the 1st 2 LPs. The rest of the songs are disposable. I'm not familiar with their later stuff.

Agreed Dark Star were one-song wonders

Early Witchfynde is kinda weak, but the last 2 albums are really good IMO

Personally I love the Bollweevil and Aurora singles and the first Triarchy single (2nd one is alright)

OK, here's some I don't like. Some probably shouldn't be called nwobhm, and I know some of them are liked by lots of people, but personally I don't like 'em:
Anniversary
Anthem
Camargue
Earthbound
Hell (sorry, I do not like 'em)
Hoggs
Jodey
Legend (Kent)
Mithrandir
Paul Inder
Urchin
Avalon
Chinatown
Ground Attack
Lautrec
Liasion
Limelight (1 great song, 'Ashes to Ashes', the rest is bad)
Lonewolf (cash for candy)
Macaxe
Nuthin' Fancy
Oxym
Radium
Severed Head
Shock Treatment
Suspect
Taramisk
Y Diawled (sorry, IMO they're awful)
Atlantis Rising
Horsepower
Impact
the Next Band
Rox
Slender Thread
Slowtrain
Tutch
Brunel
Chaser
the Children
Demolition
Die Laughing
Megaton
Overkill
Race Against Time
Requiem
Rogue Male
Shiva
Skitzofrenik
Tracer
Truffle

Agree, disagree, whatever. It's just my list, nothing more or less :)

Well, I quite liked the Anniversary & Shock Treatment 7"s. ST turned out to be influential in one way...

Shame this thread's ended up with bickering & hits below the belt.

Cool! I'm just not crazy about some of those heavier-sounding Midlands singles like Demolition and ST, but that's just my tastes (or lack thereof :) )

Agreed. People get way too defensive about bands they like. We've all had that reaction at some point though; "What?! You don't worship at the altar of techno-ska gods TYTE BUTZ?! Well FUCK YOU!"
Granted, some people could be nicer in their disparaging remarks. There's a difference between saying, "I really don't like TYTE BUTZ" and saying, "TYTE BUTZ stink like crap".

Threads like this can help you figure out people's tastes and maybe avoid some bad records.
If MOST people are listing a given record, it's probably a good sign you should check it out before bunting down a copy.
If you agree with someone's list, then you may have similar tastes and you can take their recommendations more seriously.
If you completely disagree with someone, then you know that, when they recommend something, you may not share their view. Proceed with caution.

-Vardis (always hated em)
-Def Leppard (ditto..although 1st LP & ep are quite good)
-Shy
-Fastway (ouch!)
-Black rose
-Jess cox (solo stuff is ABOMINABLE)
-Saracen (1st LP is fantastic..after that? ouch!!!)
-Jaguar (ditto with 7"s & first LP..after that, so bad)
-Chariot

There's probably more, i'm getting depressed now!

Witchfynde -Give 'em Hell lp is awesome and alot of the singles you mentioned are great ones such as Hell(you should be apologetic)
and also Oxym,Radium,Demolition,Race Against Time,Requiem and a few others.Dark Star is also a cool Band with more than one good song.

Some people just can't accept they don't like (the NWOB)HM. They just happen to like a (few) band(s) that fall into it.

FIST is a nice rock band but not that good HM band. I enjoy their stuff.

And about the Witchfynde.. Funny to see the hate towards their debut because I actually like it the most. I don't care much about their later albums aside from few songs.

I like some of FIST's songs, but generally they bore me. Very simple and pedestrian stuff that lacks that intense metal feeling.
