See? I was right about the cover. And I would say they're Crossover or at least if you like Crossover you're gonna like them, but certainly not the typical D.R.I.-like Crossover.
Today I was listening to Funerot's "Invasion From The Death Dimension". Amazing Speed/Thrash/Punk/Something, easily one of the best Thrash albums released in the last 10 years. A MUST HEAR. They're one of the few bands who are not retro but simply old school.

I think I understand what kind of bands you mean, but I don't think "crossover" is the right word here. Imo they were simply the Heavy Metal of its time. Or at least right in the middle of inventing the genre, no matter if they liked to refer themselves as HM or not.StygianBlade wrote:I first thought we would speak for the crossover style of bands mixing hard rock and heavy metal in the early 80s ...

lots of good names mentioned, couple other forgotten gems:
DIRGE - soulstorm (overlooked outfit on the late ANTHRAX records; ragin speed-pickin attack w/ gruff Lemmy vocals)
PSYCHIC POSSESSOR - toxin diffusion (sweet stuff from brazil, has the drummer from VULCANO; sounds like one giant mosh part, haha)
VARUKERS - one struggle, one fight (killer! total precursor for the heavier metallic hc bands like SKITSYSTEM, WOLFPACK, etc)
BEOWULF - equal parts SUICIDAL & MOTORHEAD
AGNOSTIC FRONT - cause for alarm (most crossover Lp in their catalog)
UNCLE SLAM - 'say uncle' more SUICIDAL goodness, catchy stuff!
