New Witchfinder General "Resurrected" CD
That's because this place is more honest and open, instead of being interested in a feeling of being so special compared to 'everyone else', so underground that the underground can't be critisized, cos if it is too overtly, then what is left?
The new WG sucks, first I thought some songs were good, some riffs are, but the vocals are !BAD! and the riffs rip-off Sabbath so much that I find it a pointless album. And I'm surprised so few other people can here that.

Translation: They don't assume a new release is shite just because it's new and they don't praise crappy Helstar or Liege Lord LP's just because the 80's were so fucking kvlt.daniel wrote:That's because this place is more honest and open, instead of being interested in a feeling of being so special compared to 'everyone else', so underground that the underground can't be critisized, cos if it is too overtly, then what is left?
In my experience The miskatonic forum is one of the few really genuine places that's left in the world. That's not neccesarilly saying I like all the people who post there or anything though, or that this place is not genuine in its own way too.

Although I post on Miskatonic and like a lot of people there, I do get a bit of an elitist vibe at times and like the general atmosphere here more. I think you're both going overboard a bit with extremes at different ends of the "good new metal exists vs. only good old metal exists" argument. I think it's fair to say there's good & bad from both past and present, but I don't think Daniel's denouncing all new metal releases mordred.

No, I was not trying to imply that he did either, even if it might have sounded that way.Nightlock wrote:I think it's fair to say there's good & bad from both past and present, but I don't think Daniel's denouncing all new metal releases mordred.
I like The corroseum too, otherwise I wouldn't hang out here. I feel that Miskatonic reflects my own musical taste and "ideology", if there is such a thing, to an even greater extent thatn The corroseum, but often the discussions are more fulfilling and meaningful around here.

Btw, there's nothing wrong with Helstar and Liege Lord. They are both bloody great, not because the fucking 80s were supposed to be kvlt, it is because musically they kicked some serious ass.

I vouch that.ION BRITTON wrote:Btw, there's nothing wrong with Helstar and Liege Lord. They are both bloody great, not because the fucking 80s were supposed to be kvlt, it is because musically they kicked some serious ass.
Those are two of my all time favorite bands.

I finally heard this today. I love the old stuff and was hoping for the best with this new record, but it really sucks. The vocals are bad enough, but the drums on this record are ridiculously sloppy. It sounds like the band's going to totally fall apart on the opening of "The Gift of Life," and the guy gets off time in a lot of other places on the CD. There's some decent riffs here and there, but the drums and vocals just ruin it for me.
