Seriously. Find something else to complain about, dude, and lay off the conspiracy theories. I haven't heard any of the damn songs either, but sometimes throughout the course of the day I remember that there are more things going on in my life than a prospective Hell album that's not out yet and that I would have to be retarded to actually take offense to the fact that I can't buy it yet.
You are right, there are more things going on in life, like jumping onto various message boards and calling everyone that you don't agree with an "idiot" or "retard". You are obviously on such a high horse that such petty conversations are below you, yet you need to involve yourself with your two cents that adds nothing to the discussion.
I didn't call you an idiot or a retard. But you are acting as though the band is wronging you, and that is both idiotic and retarded. You're making a big fuss over things that don't directly concern you at all. The topic at hand is a heavy metal band's album being delayed. What stake do you have in this? What business do you have complaining about the delay or about their desire to get a record deal that they're happy with? I'm just trying to understand why you appear to be offended by these things, because it's very weird. I'm in the same boat as you. I haven't heard any songs either, though I would like to. But I actually realize that I have nothing to do with the album, nor am I owed anything by the musicians involved, so I'm not going to moan about it on the internet. And what's with this mastering conspiracy you're concocting? Maybe the band decided to change things later on (which is quite apparent). Bower said in his last post here that there are "some final (minor) tweaks and adjustments to do" anyway...doesn't sound like all that much work.
So again I ask, why are you behaving as though the band has scorned you?
PS: In the press release you keep alluding to, Bower refers to the "almost-final mix" as the material that he sent out to people like Walker, so even then he was clear that the album wasn't done...
1 You'll all soon read an announcement that HELL have been signed to Metal Blade US and Europe, and that the album will go on full worldwide release. So yes, it was worth waiting for. The first thing they're doing is to fund a video shoot for a bonus DVD track which will be included with the album package. We're shooting it the day after tomorrow.
2 Because large labels plan their releases months in advance to allow the release to coincide with press, advertising, interviews, gigs and a million other things, MB are talking about a release early in 2011 - most likely during the first quarter. To clear up the misunderstanding about the CD being finished/mixed mastered and then not being - Andy recent bought a new SSL console for the studio which has allowed us to do some things with the mastering which weren't previously possible. Although the tweaks we've made haven't been huge, they have been worthwhile.
3 Rich Walker's only involvement in this specific project has been one of supporter and friend. I've known him a long time, and I elected to send him a copy of the almost-final mix because I trust him, I value his opinion and I value his friendship - and I asked him to write an honest review because I'm old enough to realise that you can get too close to something and an honest Yorkshire warts-and-all opinion is the best possible way to keep feet planted on the ground. Rich also knows that I have always promised him first dibs at the old material and we exchanged mails about that very subjuct tonight.
4 I can categorically assure people that there is NO hyping, NO elitism and NO bullshit going on here. We're just ordinary blokes with ordinary jobs (I'm a plasterer, for God's sake) who have done this for the love of it, and then been astounded at what we've created. What's astounded us even more is the reaction of those who have heard bits of it.
5 I've apologised over and over for the delay - but please realise that everything happens for a reason. Sometimes the reason's a big one, such as the fact that out 2nd guitarist has to go to the US for 3 months to record an new Exodus album - sometimes it's a small one, such as the fact that it's my daughter's first day at her new school. But they all hold stuff up, you know?

Wow... congratulations! Can't wait to hear the new album.
When I read stuff like this I imagine people sitting at home like a baby crying "Mama, I need this cd/lp now, the band is so bad to me, because they are not giving it to me....sigh"....that is so childish...It is out when it is out....We waited for so many years...so a few months are not so important anymore.

I don't think that Avenger's posts or any other guy who stated his opinion about the new album implied that they are doing something like this when they are alone at home and the only thing that they are thinking about is the new HELL album, so I think you're overreacting a bit.
Besides, what does 'we waited for so many years' mean? I suppose you don't mean that we ALL have been waiting since the mid-80s for the album to come out? To fresh your memory a little, few people actually gave a shit about HELL, let's say, 9-10 years ago. 10 years ago few people knew about the existence of the band, fewer knew about their unreleased songs and even fewer had actually heard some of them. Please don't act as if ALL those fans HELL have today were there since the formation of the band and they have been sweating in agony for so many years for the album that Mausoleum didn't release back then. The band might have been waiting for 20+ years for it, the fans actually no more than 4-5.

There, I've taken the time to bold it for you since you seem to have some sort of literacy problem. Just because you indirectly implied said name-calling doesn’t mean that it didn't happen. Also, my statement goes to reflect a general census of your postings here, not just in this specific thread. Either way, a lot of your questions have already been gone over in detail already, so once again I'm lead to believe that you have literacy issues. The band doesn’t owe me anything but based on the elitist way that they are going about promoting this release and the fact that I’m a fan of the bands past material, I have every right to complain about how I feel about the situation.

You guys are all failing to realize that I could really care less about how long the album takes to come out. That is really not the point I was trying to get across at all. It's the fact that the band has made such an effort to announce this album way too prematurely. There is no offense taken on my behalf but rather just being tired of seeing this kind of attitude. You don't allow a select few people that you deem "good enough" to hear something and then have them brag about how great it is meanwhile not releasing a single audio clip for the general public that you are claiming the release is going to be marketed for... I also think it's funny how nearly everyone that's been defending the band has heard at least some of the material. Do you not see how your opinion on the matter is irrelevant? It's pure hypocrisy. As for the rest that have yet to hear the material, I really don’t see why the bands balls are in your mouth.

Did they really? All I remember reading through the years is that the basic master recording was done and that they were fishing for a solid & reliable record deal (something they would have good reasons to be wary about, considering the band's unfortunate history) while at the same time working with post-production details. It's mostly 3rd parties who have ranted & raved about the album's actual release.

Oh c'mon.. Kev sent a few rough mp3s to personal friends to check out and a few other people got to hear it and couldn't help spreading the Good Word - that it. Tinfoil hat off, please
@Kev: The Metal Blade-news is staggering! Halleluh.. um, sorry.. I mean Shemhamforash! Now, to 2nd the most valid criticism of the thread: Sharing a small preview of the album is actually a great idea. For instance, that "Plague & Fyre" rough-mix should shut up plenty of sceptic foulmouths. At least check w/ MB if it would be possible without compromising the deal. Promotion-wise it should definitely work to your advantage.
Am I the only one who, most of the time, really don't want to hear one single note of a new album before actually having laid hands on the virgin crispy physical copy? I believe it adds a nice dimension to the ritual of spinning the record for the first time, getting aquianted with the music and not knowing what to expect next.
There are exceptions of course, if the band's completely unknown to me (i.e. not having heard or read about them). I understand it may make me seem an easy target for the ones hyping. Guess I don't mind too much being let down, haha! I rarely get upset for having paid for even the most nauseating sell-outs or uninspired slabs of sound.
