The North-American Heavy Metal 7" Guide (Ye Olde Obscure)
Re: The North-American Heavy Metal 7" Guide (Ye Olde Obscure)
If you compare catalogue IDs on 45s recorded at the Clockwerke Sound Studio in Cleveland, Ohio, similar IDs were released in the early to mid 80's. I'm not saying the year 1980 is correct, but I definitely think 1990 is too late.

I've contacted Clockwerke, so we should have an answer pretty soon.
Also, yay for comps!

Thank you for this compi! Managed to get through first ten tracks and more than half of them were incredibly good. Who are these AGGRESSION? Wow!
And PROTOTYPE are SAVAGE GRACE related. Yay indeed!

AGGRESSION were on the same (private) label as VILLAIN "Time Will Tell", but I don't know if there's any other connection.
Yes, two members of PROTOTYPE were also in SAVAGE GRACE. Musically speaking the bands are quite different, but pretty cool nonetheless.

Woah! Huge thanks for the sampler comp!!
It's a measure of the depth & breadth of the American scene that despite my own decades long research in this area the majority of the songs on this sampler are new to me.

I am both thrilled & overwhelmed by this prospect.Khnud wrote: ↑Sun Jan 09, 2022 11:10 pmAnd... You ain't seen nothin' yet.bigfootkit wrote: ↑Sun Jan 09, 2022 9:31 am Woah! Huge thanks for the sampler comp!!

Also, i have to disagree with you on your Valiant review, the out-of-the-blue funk outro made me very happy indeed. I love to hear the rules torn up in such an abrupt & unexpected fashion. Not what i (or anyone else) was expecting after seeing that excellent (& very metal) pic sleeve.
Kudos for the inclusion of Ty Barc BTW. I've long maintained there's much common ground betwen Southern Rock & Hard Rock/Metal & that song proves the point rather nicely. Did you know they also recorded a 4 song EP in 1979 as Tracer?

The Tracer EP rests firmly in my collection and shall be reviewed at a later date. I did not notice the Ty Barc connection though, thanks for pointing it out!bigfootkit wrote: ↑Mon Jan 10, 2022 12:13 am Kudos for the inclusion of Ty Barc BTW. I should have guessed.
Ty Barc/Tracer were apparently called War Horse for a while as well, but didn't record anything under that monicker.

The aim of my project is to a) acquire and b) review everything. In that order. So, yes. Eventually.

YOU BASTARDS!!!
Pointing an accusing finger at DaN and Khnud.
I have been avoiding collecting 7’’ for a long time, except for an occasional NWoBHM 7’’ now and then, and it has worked wonderful.
But now DaN and Khnud has forced me to start collecting singles from North America too.
Thank you guys!
Fortunately Khnud was graceful enough to lighten my wallet and I now have 3 US 7’’ that I didn’t know I needed.
