Best band from your home town/city
What's the best band from the city/town you live in?
And I'm not talking 1-2 hours away... From the actual place you live.
Not that there is a lot to choose from as the scene was rather small here but it's by far Zions Abyss. I don't classify them as being in the top tier by any stretch but still a great band for sure. The next runner up would have to be Malignant Growth. A competent Thrash act that put out a pretty interesting demo effort in 1992. They had another demo prior to that but it's not to the same standard and the vocalist sounds like a poor mans Jeff Hatrix with half the talent.

On the strength of the new album, it's Wode.

Guess I'll have to answer High Level, who released nothing but demos. A few of my friends play in death metal bands who have released a few albums, but this genre doesn't appeal to me.

Too many great bands from Stockholm. Maybe Bathory?

Immediate neighbourhood: HELLHOUND, RELLIK, INVICTA. Otherwise, Metallica, Forbidden, Testament, or any other Bay Area band of your choice

Re: Best band from your home town/city
I was raised in a town of about 60 thousands people (number still declining..) with no classic metal band that actually made it. Only recently did I discover there was a band called Uklad N, but apparently one song was all that was left from them.
With the advent of the 90s a new sound was developed there and some bands from that place, such as Fullmoon, are considered cult by many. But, obviously, they don't really belong here.

My old home town of Västerås (no relation to Westeros..) was/is an embarrasingly shitty Metal town, but the awesome Utumno stood out from the crowd. For Stockholm, Candlemass + Bathory is an even race, with The Krixhjälters/Omnitron, Jonah Quizz and Heavy Load as runner-ups..

dream weaver, whose second demo and first mcd i think qualify as archtypical greek epic power metal of the 90s and i really enjoyed back in the day.

Damn, I always wondered where I heard your name earlier, but now as you mention you grew up in Västeras, do you know Hans Gerbes? He once gave me an Acis 7", who came from Västeras too, right?DaN wrote:My old home town of Västerås (no relation to Westeros..) was/is an embarrasingly shitty Metal town, but the awesome Utumno stood out from the crowd. BUT he also organized a record trade almost 15 or 20 years ago. I needed a Torture MLP for another trade and you wanted my (shitty) Deliverance "Book of lies" and Black Task "Long after midnight" that I wanted to get rid off. Already back then you had a secret passion for really bad Metal. haha
Involved in that trade was a Hateful Rage Demo MLP as well if I remember well ... the circles has closed.
It's not easy to be the Antichrist ...
