Lazy bones? You can always check this page for the latest
updates, weather it's new reviews, a new label discography, new features, new
interesting links, changes made to The Corroseum etc...
- 2020-12-16 - I'm sorry, but the slow-down of the Fanzine-archive-building will not happen in the foreseeable future since I was recently shared a MOTHERLOAD of material from forum user Rumblefist + there's still stuff left from from Alessio Bozzoli and Miguel Angel to share. From these 3 and more: Adonai Metal Roxx #4, Black Metal #3, Breaker #7 and #8, Crionics #1, Crucible #2, Decibel Of Death #2 and #3, Gray Matter #5, La Luna Metallika #1, L'ame De Fond #13, Mensagem Do Templo #10, Metal Invader #21, Metal On Metal #4, Metal Power #3, #20, #21, #22 and #23, Metal Underground #5, Metalorgie #12, Nice Noise #2, Play Again #1, Rising Force #3, Sagrada Escurita #0, #1, #2, #3, #4 and #6, Troubadour #6, Underground Heavy Metal Hotwire jan '87, feb '87, apr '87 and may '87, Warning #5
...and that merely scratching the surface.
- 2020-11-09 - Keeping both with the German theme from last month, and the promise to complete the all-Metal comp LPs, here's pages on 2 German rarities: Blizz IIX, HDH Rock 91 ...and the less rare Hard 'n Heavy - Live Im Feierwerk ...and while we're at it, my backlog of German mixed/local releases: Down To The Top, Bad Kreuznacher Rockszene 84, Newcomer Rocksampler 2, Rock-Cyclus 2 and Rock Für Afrika (don't worry Patrik, you'll get it back some day..).
Also, we've been recieving lots of super-cool fanzine contributions from all around the world lately, so this month we're hitting the 500th zine-mark! Straight from the ol' editor himself, Scott Heller, we get Metal Madness #5 and Metal Madness #7, thus completing the entire MM output. From ex-Time Escape drummer Alessio Bozzoli we get Demo-Lition #2, Hurlant Militia #0, M.A.D. #1, Rubbish #2 and Vaxin #5 - more great stuff to come from this super-cool contributor in the coming months! Continuing with the archive of Miguel Angel we get Decibels Storm #1, Destruction Angel #2, Gray Matter #4, Metali-K.O. #7, Rock Brigade #13, Rock Brigade #16, Rock Brigade #18 and Rock Brigade #22-A. Finally a sweet trio of old Italian zines from Marco "Nonseinormale": Metal Belch #3, Metal Claw #1 and Metal Fortress #5.
- 2020-10-28 - We're crazy stupid proud to finally being able to present this new mega-feature on The Corroseum website: The Heavy Metal Mania ~ The German Hard Rock and Heavy Metal Guide ~ History forged in Steel 1978-1993!! This incredibly ambitious project is 99% the work of Corroseum forum-member Prowler - so far. We're hoping that more people will get inspired to help fill in the blanks and supply additonal info, either by contacting us or via the forum-thread.
- 2020-10-15 - A new sub-goal of sorts is I've decided to try to complete* at the very least the vinyl-part of the all-Metal comps (there are relatively few left) in the Compilopedia. We start off with 2 of the 4 missing Argentinian rarities, Aleación and Metalicos.
In other news: I think the last time we added an interview to The Corrosum must have been around the time when dinosaurs walked the earth and "Defenders Of The Faith" had just hit the stands, but now it has finally happened again. From Leslie Dávid of Rattle I.N.C. webzine comes this long interview with Dark Tales fanzine co-editor Markus Nick. Markus was also kind enough to scan Dark Tales #2 and #3, previously missing in our 'zine archive. Another old zine-author who have contributed with his work to The Corroseum is Steven Redant who has sent us Metallised #8 and #9 - incidently their 2 first issues in English. I've also been in contact with Miguel Angel, author of the Metal80 and Musica Impresa blogs who's scanning- and zine-hoarding work we will see a lot of in the coming months! We start off with Gray Matter #1, Teenage Depression #12, Teenage Depression #13, Live Wire #1, Live Wire #2, Live Wire #3, Live Wire #4, Crucible #1 and Implosion #2. That last one was funnily enough submitted to The Corroseum forum by Rumblefist the very same day(!) Also from ol' Rumble we get Initium #1 and Metal Command #9 (Argentina).
- 2020-10-04 - Milestone-time! The 666th addition to The Corroseum's Metal Compilations Encyclopedia has been reached, and it's none other than In The Name Of Satan - A Tribute To Venom!
And then a small correction to what I wrote in the last update: I did have a few more zines - or actually magazines left in my collection, so I've decided to start including some of the better Trüe/underground/zine-mag-crossover titles in the zine-archive, if only to increase the content of obscure band trivia in the database. First off, the 4 last issues of one of the best German 80's mags there ever was, Escape #6, Escape #7, Escape #8 and Escape #9. From Belgium I've also added the 'Mark 2'-editions of Whiplash #1 and Whiplash #2. From the archives of Ray Berkis comes Metal Forces #3, Metal Forces #4 and Metal Forces #5, and finally some mixed Fanzines Del Mundo-reposts in the form of Rock Brigade #19, Rock Brigade #21, Rock Brigade #24, Rock Brigade #26, Rock Brigade #27, Termonuclear #5, Obsequies #1, Metallica Hungarica #1, Kick-Ass Monthly #31, Insanity #1, Inferno Rock #1, Headbanger #4 (Peru), Apocalyptic Noise #4 and Apocalypse #5.
- 2020-09-16 - As requested in the Missing Inserts-thread on The Corroseum Forum, a H-BOMB insert has been added to The Missing Inserts-section (courtesy of Khudh!), plus a bunch of my own work: LEGEND (UK), IRONCROSS, NME, POSSESSED, TÖRR, CELTIC FROST and DESTRUCTION - the 3 last ones technically being posters(!)
I'm also wrapping up with scans of the very last bunch of zines in my own collection: Allied Forces #1, Blackthorn #8, Heavy Metal Demons #6, Metal Steps #1, Rolls Rock #1, Streetfighter #2, Streetfighter #3, Whiplash #4 and Whiplash #5. With kind permission from the awesome Send Back My Stamps fanzine blog I'm also reposting some of their older features that I felt would fit The Corroseum's fanzine archive perfectly: Gray Matter #2, Metal Massacre #1, Out Of The Underground #1, Violent Noize #2 and Baphomet #1, #2, #3, #4 (Italian), #4 (English) and #5 ...and finally the last batch of the original run of Aardschok: #10, #11, #12 and #13. Even if they had exited the fanzine-format many issues prior I still think these publications has such an important part of Heavy Metal history that they belong here.
- 2020-09-04 - I recently got quite the little treasure-trove of zine-scans! From Ray Berkis, former editor of the old Brutal Torture zine from Toronto, Canada comes Antiposer #2, Blackthorn #3, Blackthorn #6, Cerebral Devastation #2, Enema Shit-Zine #1, Guillotine #3, Guillotine #4, Kick Ass #25, Metallic Assault #1, Metallic Assault #2, Metal Slaughter #1, Metal Slaughter #2 and Thrustazine #1. Also, our trusty contributor Rumblefist shares Massacre Metal #1, Mosh Fanzine #1, Mosh Mag #3, Mutilador #3 and Thrash Ground #1. Keeping with the SoAm theme, I've also added Blowing Thrash #1, #2 and #3, from FdM (and probably other sources as well)...and finally we continue to add more of the earliest, zine'iest issues of Aardschok, courtesy of Erwin Van Faassen: #6, #7, #8 and #9.
- 2020-08-09 - Mark Metcalf: "WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO WITH YOUR LIFE?!"
Nightsblood: "I wanna review cult Heavy Metal rarities!"
AMETHYST, BOLLWEEVIL, ODYSSEY, TAIPAN, TRAITOR'S GATE and WARZWOLF.
- 2020-07-14 - Another neat tech update: The Corroseum's labels-special has been transformed from a mere 120+ plain html-pages to a proper mysql database. In plain text this means we can do a lot of cool things with it in the future, like adding searches, filters etc.. The first special feature added is a new column of YouTube / Discogs / eBay / Popsike-links for each release, similar to the recent update on the review-pages. To be continued!
- 2020-06-30 - A really neat technical update, if I may say so myself:
At the bottom of each review in the Reviews-section a new banner has been added, which will make an instant search for the release on various often-used sites. Play around with it and leave feedback in the designated forum thread!
Also, the Made In Greece compilation has been added to the Compilopedia.
- 2020-06-22 - "Much want more" as we say in Sweden ...meaning even more olde Metal fanzines. First, from Belgium: Metal Battle #2, Metal Battle #3, Metal Battle #4, Streetfighter #1 and Whiplash #2. From Holland: Heavy Metal Demons #10 and Heavy Metal Demons #11. From the US: Kick Ass Monthly #27 and World Metal Report #3. ...and again, from Erwin van Faassen, Aardschok #3, Aardschok #4 and Aardschok #5 ...plus the usual FdM re-posts from all over the world: Cuero Negro #1, Cuero Negro #2, Cuero Negro #3, Cuero Negro #4, Decibel Of Death #1, Decibel Of Death #2, Mosh Fanzine #2, Hardos #1, Level Six #1, Metal Forces #1, Metal Forces #2, Thermic Inversion #1, Thrash 'em All #3 and Total Thrash #4.
Perhaps even more importantly, a few compilations has also been added, all of them proper Metal ones: Cabilla, Hungry Days, Thrash Heavy And Loud and VII Festival Rock Villa De Madrid.
- 2020-06-09 - Time for zines! Here's a whole bunch of reposts from FdM: Aniquilamiento Brutal #1, Blackthorn #2, The Book Of Armageddon #1, Brutal Torture #1, Creeping Death #1, Enfer #1, Headbanger #9 (USA), Iron Fist #16, Metal Action #4, Metal Age #1 and Metal Command #5 (Argentina). From rumblefist comes Hellzine #3 and Crash Bang #5, from Erwin van Faassen we get Aardschok #1 and Aardschok #2, and finally there's me chipping in with Blackthorn #5.
- 2020-06-04 - Inserts with METAL LADY, VICE, TRAITOR, SHOCKSPLIT, DANGER ZONE, BROCAS HELM, BLIND GUARDIAN, MARTYR, ALLIED FORCES and ASTAROTH have been added to The Missing Insert-section, several of which were contributed by khnud - hail him!
- 2020-06-01 - Ever wondered what I do when I need to take a break from working with the site? I do different work on the site!
After a few months of intense work with more long-term projects, I did find some time for "regular" updates, like more label discogs: West Virginia Records (incl. Morbid Music), Fucker Records (incl. Maggot Records) and Reddingtons Rare Records. The latter inspired a short PARALEX review. Also - finally - Alan's BRAINFEVER review, which was finished months ago but I almost completely forgot about...
- 2020-03-13 - Back from NZ since a week, we celebrate the return of the king with reviews of some of my souvenirs, i.e. one of the most rare, obscure and infamous Heavy Metal compilations out there, Godzone Metal, as well as the local Shazam! Battle Of The Bands.
- 2020-01-25 - OK, I did toy with the idea of just closing the "Beyond The Black"/Links-dept. for good with a comment stating: "Permanently Closed - only The Corroseum is true!" ...but humor is a difficult thing to some, and so this very important part of the site is now reopened, minus the old Ye Olde Metal World Map (see comment on page). Please get in contact (also forum thread) if you have suggestions of more sites that would fit!
- 2020-01-20 - You want obscüre kült? The Corroseum always delivers! The number of Malaysian Heavy Metal compilations featured in the compilopedia just went from zero to six, now featuring Batu Batu Perjuangan, Clash Of The Bands 3, Juara Juara Rock III, Pancakara DiCakerawala, Rock Galactica and the untitled Valentine Sound Production 12" featuring CROMOK. (Special creds to Dave of Feudal Throne Records for making this update possible!)
From Nightsblood we get
a brand new SOLAR EAGLE review, as well as a scan of the recently unearthed Norway Rocks insert(!)
- 2019-12-27 - One small update before the end of the decade: A CONCEPTION review by Nightsblood, the Grand Metal Live compilation 2LP and the ARDOZ-insert added to the insert special.
...and I almost forgot: 2 more tiny label-pages in the form of Belgravia Records and Barricade Records.
- 2019-12-12 - 3 (out of 4 existing from the 80's) Polish Metal compilation cassettes has been added to the Compilopedia: Metal Invasion, Polish Heavy Metal '87 and Metal Attack 88. Disentangling the origins of the various track versions proved quite a challange, but I think I got it right in the end.
- 2019-11-13 - THE TORTURE NEVER STOPS!!! No, that's not true. Even torturers have contracts. The work on The Corroseum's fanzine archive on the other hand just goes on and on and on and on so here's another 20 submissions from a number of different sources: First off Sovdat has presented us with Ripping Headaches #10, then we have 2 more contributions from rumblefist, Moshing #1 and Revenge #5. The mutually beneficial exchange with Fanzines del Mundo continues with me reposting Censored #1, Disposable Underground #1 and Decibel Of Death #9. Myself I've once again dived into the pile of olde Belgian zines and scanned Deaf Or Glory #1, Destroyer #1, Headbanger #1, Headbanger #2, Heavy Belgium #1, Hurricane #1, Stale Verhale #2, Stale Verhale #5 and the Stale Verhale - Heavy Sound Festival special. Finally I've rummaged through the fanzine-section of archive.org and come up with Mayhem #7, Thrashcore #1, Thrashcore #2, Thrashcore #3 and Thrashcore #4. Next week: Compilations! (METAL ones for a change..)
- 2019-11-11 - While I do have dozens more of them waiting around the corner, this time we take a small time-out from the fanzines and concentrate some on the other core businesses of The Corroseum. First off some more label-pages - yes, I'm still discovering holes in The Corroseum's Metal labels index, though I have a feeling this will be, if not the final, then at least the last update in quite a while. I give thee: Rising Sun Productions, Tombstone Records, Communiqué Records and Mechanic Records. With the help of tbieri and discogs-user Besognes (whoever ye may be - creds!) I've also added dozens more shape-oddities to Azra and family. Nightsblood strikes back with another excellent trio of reviews: BATTLE AXE, BIG DAISY and CLIENTELLE and I'm chipping in with a little piece on ATOMGOD.
- 2019-10-03 - There I was, thinking I'd finally get to do something else than adding more bloody fanzines, and then Marco "Nonseinormale" Gulino ruins it all by sending me a handful of pure GEMS of Italian Metal history: Masters Of Disaster #1, Masters Of Disaster #2, Masters Of Disaster #3, Fireball Magazine feb/march 1985 and an ASTAROTH fanzine/promo-booklet. Of course I had to take this opportunity to also scan & add the last batch of Roman's zines: Dark Tales #1, Giants Lore #1, Giants Lore #2, Giants Lore #3 and The Wild Rag #15, The Wild Rag #16 and The Wild Rag #18. Then I suddenly got permission to re-post some 80's zines from the fanzine archive of deathmetal.org, so here's Profundezas Do Metal #2, Metal Attack #7, Damage Inc. #1, Metallian #1, Metallian #2, Metal Invaders #0, Metal Invaders #1, Metal Invaders #2, Pounding Hard #1 and Death Scream #3 ...and while I was at it I of course had to keep up with Fanzines del Mundo's latest oldies, like Speed Attack #1, Phoenix Militia #7, Phoenix Militia #8, Mutilador #1, Leviatan #1, Leviatan #2, Leviatan #3, Hurling Metal #8 and Alliage #5.
While the scanner was steaming hot, I also added inserts of CROM and ASPID to the the Missing Inserts-section.
- 2019-09-20 - This was really tricky to work out and didn't turn out exactly like I first intended it to, but I THINK I've made some significant improvements to the image slideshows of the fanzine galleries. I've been quite displeased with how it worked in the past, especially on mobile devices and since I'm putting a lot of time and energy into this whole fanzine-database-biz atm I really needed to focus some on presentation & useability. "Simplification" has been the code-word. And Steel! As always.
In the bad, olde Before:
- Pages appeared shrinked to fit the screen. For full-size you had click the tiny "1:1"-button at the bottom, then click it again to shrink back and after that you'd be able to click the tiny "Next"-button.
- The background/gallery-page just got longer & longer with every next popup, which kept stretching the original page out of bounds. This was especially annoying when reading the zines on your phone, coz the images kept floating away into the black space of the ever-increasing gallery background...
- That thumbstrip to the left in the popup
served no real purpose and just clogged up the page.
In the good olde Now:
- The page-jpg's always open in original size. No need for a shrink-to-fit function since these aren't fancy holiday photos but a tool for reading olde, poorly xeroxed mags. You can still move around the image by holding down your mouse-button/finger, and pinching to zoom in/out works fine on your phone/tab.
- Clicking outside of the image, in the dark ">>>>"-striped area takes you to the next page (sorry, I looked long & hard but couldn't find a working swipe-alternative for mobiles..). It also brings both the image and the gallery back to the top (might not work 100% on phones together w/ really large images tho'..), which means no more mile-long black backgrounds.
- Bye-bye useless thumbstrip.
Do let me know what you think + please report any errors or weirdness in the Fanzine-thread.
Now, if you hate old Metal fanzines and are waiting for other types of updates I'm sorry to disappoint you, coz here comes another huge batch of 'em! (don't worry, there will be other stuffs coming soon - just need to finish this back-log. And then maybe one more. Or two, or eight...)
From forum user rumblefist comes Blood Vomits #2, Criminal Insane #1, Metal Zone #2 and Rotthenness #1 - All hail The Fist! Back home I'm continuing with the scanning of the zine-collection I borrowed from Roman Greindl - a work that is almost finished with the addition of the following titles: Battlefield #3, Battlefield #4, Battlefield #5, Decibels Storm #2, Eldritch Assemblage #1, Heavy Metal Demolition #25, Metal Glory #5, Power Packer #1, Power Packer #3, Raging Death #1 and Unchain The Underground #1. I've also been allowed to repost some neat looking oldies from the fanzine archive of Schattenmann Publishings/Witchcraft Magazine (cheers, Stefan!), including Battlefield #6, Raise The Dead #1, Speed Attack #2 and Thrasher #4.
Finally the co-op with the Fanzines del Mundo-blog continues, with me borrowing the following 80's gems from Giuseppe's extensive archive: Algema Metalica #3, Anarcheology #3, Bastard Zine #1, Blasphemer #3, Cuero Negro #5, Decibel Of Death #7, Dysneylandya #1, F.E.T.U. #7, Headbanger #2, Metal-Core #2, Noise Metal #8, Rrroooaaarrr #1, Termonuclear #1 and To Death #1. As before this is only a small part (the 80's part, basically) of the recent extensive updates of the FdM-blog, so don't miss out on the source, especially if you prefer to download rather than read on-line.
- 2019-09-03 - In today's news: BLACK AXE, BLACK DIAMOND & CIRITH UNGOL, all from the hands of ye trusty olde Nightsblood.
I've also been cooperating some with the excellent Peruvian fanzine-blog Fanzines del Mundo. As a result, 11 zines from this blog has also been added to The Corroseum: Abismo #14, Cuero Negro #6 & #7, Heavy Metal Subterraneo #2, Impulso Repulsivo #1, Insanity #2, Insanity #3, Rattlehead #3, Ultimo Massacre #5, Ultranoize #2 and Warning #1. To reciprocate, I've scanned some other zines I had laying around for this blog, including Pro Murder #2 and Banger Maniac #1, but most of the rest probably won't turn up at The Corroseum. More on this in the fanzines forum thread as things progress...
- 2019-08-25 - What does one do when one has almost a week left of summer vacation with a few extra hours per day to spare? Well one corroseums of course! After dragging my trusty ol' scanner to & fro' the home of die-hard collector Patrik "Dirty Rocker" Johansson, I'm back with a whole bunch of hi-res scans of rare inserts (ELIXIR, GRAVEN IMAGE, CLOVEN HOOF, VENOM, RIPPER, TOKYO BLADE, L.A., EMERALD, SORCERY, BLITZKRIEG, DEEP SWITCH, PARADOXX, SLAUTER XTROYES and MILITIA) as well as quality sleeve-scans of US top rarities like PARADOXX, MILITIA, WYZARD, METAL MERCHANT and many more. I also got a batch of sleeve scans of rare Australian Metal from Andrew buntine, recently added to the reviews.
Nightsblood on the other hand/side of the Atlantic brings us back to our core business - reviews of olde & rare Metal vinyl, this time in the form of some some good ol' NWOBHM singles: BADGE, BADGER, CHARGER and CRUCIFIXION.
Furthermore, a big batch of German fanzines has been added to the fanzine database, the majority of them from the collection of Roman Greindl: Adrenalin #1, The Answer #1, Battery #1, Blitzkrieg #2 and #3, Live Wire #7 and #8, Metal Power #3 and #4, Metallic Thrust #1, Destroyer #1, Metal Prophecy #1 and #2, Sacrifice #6, Shock Power #5 and #6, Speedgickerl #2, Totentanz #2, #3 and #4, and last and most certainly least - and may The Gods forgive me, Evil Cunt #1 and #2, plus Moronic #3.
- 2019-08-02 - This year's Big Summer Project is now finished: The Corroseum's Olde Metal Fanzine Archive is now The Corroseum's Olde Metal Fanzine Database ...meaning it now comes with a proper search-function ...meaning we're now aiming to become a truly useful resource when it comes to digging up info on obscure as well as classic 80's Metal bands. Of course we celebrate with more additions, this time 11 fanzines from all over the world, all written in English. From our man in Australia, Andrew Buntine comes Heavy Duty #2, from the kind sirs at Irish Metal Archive comes Def Thrash #3, kindly lent from the collection of Roman Greind/Forgotten Steel comes Aaaarrghh #3, #4, #5 + #7, Eldritch Assemblage #2, Metal Glory #4, Nemezine #1 + #2 and Power Packer #2.
- 2019-07-09 - If you think finding rare Metal vinyl is hard, try tracking down olde lost Metal websites... Sometimes you do struck gold and The Corroseum is proud to present another really cool addition to The Heavy Metal Wayback Machine: Scandinavian Metal Forest! Thank you, Yasu!
- 2019-06-29 - No time to waste, since I've planned dozens of these: Volume 4 of the Veterans of the Various-Wars comp-comp series out now! ...and it's the first of what will be plenty of Swedish editions.
- 2019-06-27 - Volume 3 of the Veterans of the Various-Wars comp-comp series out now! ...and the rumors were indeed true: It's NWOBHM(and post-nwobhm)-time!
Accompanying this is the addition of Overtone 3 - The Rock Album to the compilopedia.
- 2019-05-17 - 2 rare Hungarian compilation cassettes have been added to the compilation archive: Heavy Metal I/"Robbanásveszély II" and Garázs III. I've also added some fanzines, first and foremost the classic Metal Warriors #4 and #6, then we have Metal Warriors #3 as well as Metal Warriors #1, #2 and #3, and finally Metal Warriors #0.
- 2019-05-08 - Only one puny (and shitty) record was representin' in the Romanian part of the reviews archive ...until now! ALTAR and SECRET reviews added.
- 2019-04-17 - Volume 2 of the Veterans of the Various-Wars comp-comp series out now - Hail Italy!
- 2019-04-16 - If any label could be considered "Kings of the bargain-bins" it's Raw Power ...but they're mostly Metal, lots of HR and technically all exclusive releases so there's no escape. Also, another old US zine contributed by rumblefist: Death And Destruction #2.
- 2019-04-04 - Nightsblood strikes again with some writings on limeys AURORA and yanks ARYON. Furthermore we return to the wonderful world of fanzines, first with an old classic contributed by forum member rumblefist: Deathscythe #1! ...and some more of the usual Belgian ones from yours truly: Metallised #1, Sucks #7, #9, #10, #11 and #12, Total Blur #2, #4 and #5, Hard'n'Heavy #2, #3 and #4, Hard Core #0 and #1, (<--- this last one is actually written in English!)
- 2019-03-19 - The Veterans Of The Various-Wars compilations-compilation series is born!
- 2019-03-08 - The plan was to include this review of DEMON EYES with last week's French update, but I never got time to finish it until now. Also added are the 2 albums by Venezuelan obscurists HAZ: "Hechiceros" and "Todos Unidos". Further album reviews are presented by our (t)rusty contributor Nightsblood: ALKANA, ARGUS, AVATAR and AXESS.
In other news: I'm also trying to catch up with the growing pile of German local/mixed comps, like The Beast, Mayence Rock '88, Mayence Rock '89, NMS-Splitter, Pink-Pop presents Rocktage '86 and Rock Feierwerk - Sieger '89.
- 2019-02-24 - One more update before work-week begins: The rather large French label New Records / New Electric Way / N.E.W Musidisc has been added to the Metal labels index. While on the French theme I also threw in a few mixed local comps: Plein Watt, Rock A Sens, Rock In Paris '84 and the "Stalker, Resurection, Mutha Corpse, Franck Orentz, Baumonde, Dealers" untitled compilation,
- 2019-02-19 - Time for that promised Italian Metal-special Part 2: First off 4 singles in the form of ALTER EGO, BLACK HOLES, NEW AGE and ROCK TRAIN BAND, then two elusive Metal compilation CDs, Musical Box and R.I.N.G.E.R.? and finally 3 obscure local/mixed comps: Green Village, Pordenone/Taranto and Rock Pianeta Giovane. Furthermore, Alan/Nightsblood has honored us with another 2 reviews of some American South West oldies: WHITE NOISE and the other "other SLAYER". Finally our man in Ljubljana, Musto Delic has granted us a scan of the Distortion Newsletter - June 1992.
- 2019-01-28 - Thanx to the scanning-work of forum member Nightsblood, hi-res images of the original inserts of THE HAND OF DOOM - "Poisonoise" and CROWHAVEN - "Emotional Adjustment" have now been added to The Missing Insert-section.
- 2019-01-22 - While I'm starting the year with a few weeks off from all things computer, two Corroseum forum members have chipped in with some great writing in the form of the following reviews: RED RUIN, CROWHAVEN, LOOSELY TIGHT, STUNN and VOLTZ.
- 2018-12-21 - Did you know that Santa Claus lies buried in Italy? True story. To commemorate the jolly ol' fellow, let's do an Italian 2-part special! First here's a couple of new (old) album reviews: AES, CRYING STEEL, REVENGE, ROD SACRED, SWORDS and TEGEN HART.
- 2018-12-13 - SANTA LUCIA!
- 2018-12-11 - The Czech review-section looked a bit underdeveloped, so I've added some writings on METANOON, SEXIT, TARANTULA and TOXIC TRASH. Hundreds of album pics have also been updated (..but among thousands of reviews, who would ever notice? *sigh*)
- 2018-11-15 - It's time for the very first update of the new reviews-section: three 7" singles from the likes of BLACK FLAME, JITNEY and SABLE, as well as the MLPs of CONDEMNATION and DOUBLE DEUCE. And yes, lenghtwise I've adopted a less-is-more approach to record-reviewing compared to most previous efforts. Being too overambitious when it comes to writing is usually the road to procrastination for me, and I really don't want to run out of steam with this project.
- 2018-11-08 - The Corroseum reviews-section has eaten a corpse and mutated into a MONSTER!
This is without a doubt one of the most important and gamechanging updates to the site in many years, and for me it will probably result in a shift of focus back to the very original intent of this webpage: To review old, forgotten Heavy Metal vinyl! ...mainly because now it won't just be random additions to a small heap of random reviews anymore, but the building of a Proper Rare Metal Archive.
- 2018-10-30 - The Corroseum has gone Full Meta and is now a Metal-collector's site collecting Metal-sites about Metal collecting. The Heavy Metal Wayback Machine is launched and the mighty www.metalpage.de is the first of many (hopefully) olde sites saved from extiction.
- 2018-09-03 - More fanzines, anyone? This time it's a mixed international affair, beginning with these written in English: Blackthorn #1, Northern Metal #8, #9 & #14, Powerline #3, plus Metal Warriors #5. Multilinguals might also enjoy Bone Breaker #1, Earthshaker #1, Escape #4 & #5, Heavy Metal Demons #5, Live Wire #5 & #6, Metal Times #1, Streetfighter #2, Tympans #1, #4, #5 & #6 and Whiplash #3.
Oh, and do note that with new site update, The Corroseum's Metal Fanzine Archive has graduated to its own

- 2018-08-28 - *sniffs* Mmmmmm.... Smell that? New-car smell.
Yes, after 3 months of intense work I'm finally proud to present The new Corroseum 3.0! Looks pretty similar to Old Corroseum you say? Well, on the outside perhaps, but my intent was never to change much of the classic design priciples of the page (nu = bad, olde = good, right?), but rather to freshen up some outdated desing flaws, streamline it codewise and (trickiest part of all) make it fully responsive = fancy-talk for It won't look like shit when your browsing it with your cell or tablet - which is extra hard since the trend today seem to be that a website should look like shit on your phone. I think I've managed to break that rule and come up with something pretty unique yet still user-friendly.
"Why bother? I thought it always looked great."
It would have been practical if web-design aged as well as Heavy Metal, but unfortunately it doesn't. Even though I've been more motived than ever
to grow and expand the site these last few years, there's been a good 16.7% decline in fun-ness every year due to the fact that I just wasn't 100% pleased with what I was looking at. So, practically the whole site has now been rebuilt from scratch, save for some pics and logos.
"Why was the site and forum locked under a password?"
A totally unrelated event and of horribly poor timing. I can't even begin to explain how frustrating it was when my provider locked down the site for security reasons when I was right in the middle of rebuilding it. Apparently some bots/hackers had used some weaknesses in the comp- and fanzine-databases to infest the side with malware. We had a similar occurance a while back, but this time I could actually see the infected files for myself(!). Rather than spending weeks fixing Corro 2.0, then scapping it a few weeks later, I decided the only feasible solution was to speed up the process of finishing what I've started.
...and for the record I'm not paranoid enough to think anyone attacked the site for any personal reasons - things like this is likely to happen to any site displaying these kinds of security holes. It has now been amended. For the time being.
Well, hope you like. Let me know if anything looks weird in your particular browser or device. I've test-tried it on plenty of platforms but not all. NOTE that the forum is still looking a bit weird, but for entirely different reasons - see designated thread. A work in progress.
- 2018-06-14 - With this update we throw cultural diversity out the window and go all-in Belgian* in the form of 36 Belgian size A4 fanzines, all written in Dutch/Flemish: Barst #1, #2, #3, #5 and #6; Braindamage #1, #2, #3 and #4; Metal News #1; Metal Paper #1, #2, #6 and #9; Metallian #0, #1 and #2; Orkaan #1, #2, #3, #4, #6 and #7; Paralysed #1; Sanctuary #2, #3, #4, #5, #6 and #7; Streetfighter #4; Total Deaf #2; Tytan #1, #2, #3 and #4.
...as well as a few really obscure Belgian mixed comps for desert: C'est Pas De La Crotte, Colour Chart vol. 1, Live On Stage - Live On LP and Nationale Rockmeeting.
- 2018-05-04 - In case you missed the news I recently acquired a large fanzine collection (roughly 150 titles) so we'll be seeing a lot of those in the coming months. We're starting off with a fairly random selection: Blackthorn #7, Chainsaw Rock #1, Hard'n'Heavy #8, Heavy Metal Demons #7, Metal Command #1 and Steel Shock #7.
- 2018-04-13 - After solving a couple of technical difficulties I've finally been able to give The Corroseum's Metal Compilation Encyclopedia a MAJOR facelift: the main page now show the album sleeves instead of that horribly ugly & boring old links list. I've also added a new filter: Collectable labels & special selections. With this function you can now generate the following lists:
- 2018-04-03 - A filtering-function has been added to the Fanzine archive, similar to the one used in the Compilopedia. You can now make selections of all zines from a certain year, country and/or language (for instance all fanzines written in English etc...)
- 2018-03-18 - The 3rd text-search experiment of The Corroseum is now added, this time to the Metal Compilation Encyclopedia. I have also added the last few Swedish comps I'm aware of that was missing: Girls & Boys - Helges 87, Gränslös Musik, KKF untitled 7" EP, Rock Of Sweden Vol. 1, Rocket - Caught In Steel and Rockhuset - Start The Party With A Bang! There's probably more local obscurities out there yet to be discovered, but considering how many years me and a few fellow collectors have spent hunting these oddities, I'd say they're pretty jävla rare!
- 2018-02-25 - The small but solid Metal Voice label as well as a search-function has been added to The Corroseum Metal Labels index.
- 2018-02-21 - It's time for more fanzines again. From Bosnian/Slovenian Metal maniac Musto Delic comes Death Speaks #1 & #2, No Name #2, Experience The Power #1 and The Wild Rag #13. Myself I've scanned & added the following: Blackthorn #4, Godzilla #5 & #6, Heavy Metal Massacre #3 and Rock Brigade #7.
I've also made another rearrangement of the whole Fanzine-section. All content-descriptions are now moved to the individual zine galleries and I've added a Google custom search field to the main page. It's kind of a beta-testing for more of these search functions to be added to the site in the future...
- 2018-01-26 - First update of 2018 is more of the usual, i.e. some new label pages: Hellhound Records and C.M.F.T. ...as well a comps update, where we revisit Holland with another 7 local releases: 0230363030989, Cheese Live, De Vrolijke Krisis, Five Alive, Hard To Find, Koppop and Stjerre Barre Swier. We also keep on digging deep into the NWOBHM and post-NWOBHM underground, unearthing the following 5 UK comps: Axe Attack, Concepts Of Success, Seaside Rock, To Boldly Go and 12 Go Mad In Durham.
