Trial

Athens (Attica)
Heavy Metal
Active:
1990-unknown

Formed by a group of young Athenians back in 1990-91, TRIAL played true-and-tested, underground Heavy Metal in pure 1980s fashion. The membership originally consisted of Makis and George Dafopoulos (vocals/guitars and bass, respectively), Kostas Mastrogiannis (guitars) and Alexis Damakas (drums). With this lineup, the band recorded their first demo tape, a two-tracker entitled “Illusions” (1991), at Studio 94 in Athens (same studio used by fellow melodic metallers FALLEN ANGEL the same year). With focus on strong riffs and vocals strong in character, “Illusions” is definitely worth a listen or three.

Allegedly, TRIAL had more songs to offer, with titles including “Beyond the Gates”, “Dead Again” and even a Greek-language ballad entitled “Χιλιάδες Αναμνήσεις” (”A Thousand Memories”). They also performed live at least a handful of times, one gig taking place at AN Club (Athens). However, except for a spot on one of the Heavy Rock – Tapes compilation volumes (taken from “Illusions”), no further releases are known by the band.

Compilation appearances:
* Metal Power [Cass, Comp, Numbered: Heavy – Rock Tapes, 1992]
