Hey Sami78,

Great topic! The 70s indeed laid the groundwork for many subgenres of metal, including Thrash Metal. Bands from that era contributed significantly to the aggressive and fast-paced sound that became synonymous with Thrash. Some influential 70s hard-rock and heavy-metal bands that left a mark on the early Thrash Metal scene include:

Judas Priest: Known for their powerful riffs and twin guitar attack, Judas Priest's influence on the metal genre, including Thrash, is undeniable.

Motorhead: Lemmy and company brought a raw, energetic sound that resonated with the aggression later found in Thrash Metal.

Black Sabbath: Often credited as the pioneers of heavy metal, Black Sabbath's dark and heavy sound had a profound impact on the development of Thrash.

Deep Purple: With their intricate guitar work and progressive elements, Deep Purple's influence can be heard in the technical aspects of Thrash Metal.

AC/DC: While more on the hard rock side, AC/DC's straightforward and high-energy approach left its mark on the intensity characteristic of Thrash.

Blue Öyster Cult: Known for their occult-themed lyrics and innovative guitar work, Blue Öyster Cult's influence can be heard in the lyrical content of some Thrash bands.

KISS: Their theatricality and larger-than-life stage presence influenced the visual and performance aspects of later Thrash Metal acts.

These bands, among others, provided a fertile ground for the emergence of Thrash Metal in the early 80s. The aggression, speed, and rebellious attitude of Thrash can be traced back to the foundations laid by these iconic 70s bands.
