Helms Deep - Treacherous Ways (feat. members of RAVEN)

Excited to be releasing my single favorite heavy metal album of the year: Helms Deep's Treacherous Ways! Features John and Mike from Raven (yes, the NWOBHM one) on bass/drums. Super glorious well done old school metal the right way, somewhere between old Attacker, Liege Lord, Nasty Savage, and Savatage, with a lot of epic feel and killer solos but also the same sort of nasty, almost-thrash edge that old Liege Lord and the earliest Nasty Savage stuff could hit on. Art licensed from Whelan to boot for great presentation!

CD/CS/digital are out already, LP will be out within the month.

This seems super cool, going to have to listen to it later. Is this a "side-project" of Raven or is it more like John and Mike lent their playing to help the other guy in the band out?

What Alex said both to me and in a long interview he did with a radio show was that he met Mike at a Raven show, was shooting the shit with him, and it ended up with Mike wanting to be involved with the band. Mike then showed it to John, who also liked it, and got him involved. Alex is doing all the songwriting for guitars/arrangement and John and Mike are in the band but it's Alex's thing.
