GOOD YouTube channels?
For a while I've had the idea of adding a list of good/useful/interesting YT-channels for obscure 80's Metal fans & collectors to The Corroseum's links list, and after some backtracking I'm sure I can come up up w/ a couple, but let's hear some suggestions first! For instance, Iron Horde - Metal Talk that Glen has been promoting here seems like a great example. What else?
Re: GOOD YouTube channels?
Cheers for the shout-out Dan. For those interested the link to the channel is the following: https://www.youtube.com/c/IronHordeMetalTalk
And as a gesture of goodwill for this weekend's video, I'll put on my Corroseum t-shirt. Incidentally, the topic being tackled is very much of interest to you!

Re: GOOD YouTube channels?
Gotta add a shout out & recommendation for Corroseum mainstay Alan/Nightsblood's 'Let's Talk Metal' YT channel.
Lots of fascinating content including the brand-new-this-week 3 part Metal Origins epic.

[shameless self promotion ON]
During the lockdown I started a chanel, too. A mix of one hour clips, single songs and full albums.
Most of the stuff should be well known here, though.

Re: GOOD YouTube channels?
Gotta mention my countryman Jim Ruuth's channel, Ruthless Metal:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCU4XeA ... B_AqZ_oirQ
Fun, lighthearted HM infotainment from the guy who used to run Ruuth's Inn and a couple of other ancient websites.
Cheers for the other tips. A major list w/ links and descriptions is now in the making for the site, so keem 'em coming.

YES! Only 2 days ago I finally noticed Alan's small comment in the Jag Panzer pressings thread about this. Just perfect Olde Metal deep-dives and philosophery. Totally shattered my current Critical Role-binge and steered me back on the right path.bigfootkit wrote: ↑Sat Apr 17, 2021 2:25 am Gotta add a shout out & recommendation for Corroseum mainstay Alan/Nightsblood's 'Let's Talk Metal' YT channel.

Re: GOOD YouTube channels?
Thanks Dan & 'Kit! Glad folks are enjoying my wee corner of YT.
I'm also doing live streams on Friday nights on the Marty Worm channel. they're recorded and posted on his channel (link below). Marty runs Bindrune Records, which specializes in atmospheric black metal. He used to write for Metal Maniacs and is a walking encyclopedia of all things thrash, death, black, 80s power metal, and the Noise Records discography. Oh and he's a really nice guy.
On Friday 23rd April we're gonna do a live stream with another YT metal head, Metal Theologian (he's an old Corroseum connoisseur w/ an insane collection) and work our way through the MANILLA ROAD discography. Feel free to come hang out in the chat if the time difference isn't too great

Re: GOOD YouTube channels?
A friend of mine (John Gaffney, who used to play in Sinister Realm and was one of the contributors for Candlemass Chronicles) has a Youtube channel called Lair of the Alchemist, that I joined as guest for two episodes.
Much of the content might be too "mainstream" for Corroseum-ers, but one of the episodes I was in was about Swedish 80's metal records (feat. Gotham City, Mercy, Heavy Load, Axewitch, Overdrive, Destiny and others):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzwHsfEtqgQ
The other was about Christian metal records (feat. Thunder Rider, Tourniquet, Sacred Warrior, Barren Cross, Saint and others):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuN33_X6W80&t=329s
There's other cool content on the channel too. I recommend the massive doom metal historical special, feat. Tom Phillips of While Heaven Wept and Brian Balich of Penance/Argus:

Re: GOOD YouTube channels?
I've enjoyed some of the previous livestreams so i'll try & catch this if i'm up at that time. I'll refrain from contributing though as i doubt i'll be too coherent at that time of the morning. Please feel free to talk up 'Mark Of The Beast' on my behalf though.nightsblood wrote: ↑Sun Apr 18, 2021 5:54 pm Thanks Dan & 'Kit! Glad folks are enjoying my wee corner of YT.

Re: GOOD YouTube channels?
A few other YT channels folks may like (in no particular order):
Ground Zero Salem
Pat has been in a ton pf punk/hardcore bands over the years and knows that stuff inside-out but also has very strong metal chops. Smart guy.
Metal Theologian
A Corroseum contributor with an insane metal collection and a wide musical palate.
Ken's Death Metal Crypt
While known for his death metal collection, which I've neve rseen anything like, Ken's oldschool metal chops are second to none. This guy knows 1980s heavy metal demos like most folks know Taylor Swift lyrics.
Chromium Dioxide
Hilarious & weird but don't let the nonstop jokes fool you- his metal acumen is REAL! Those with a distate for puppets beware. Seriously.
Marty Worm
Focuses more on extreme metal (he runs an atmospheric BM label) but knows his oldschool stuff like the back of his hand. Super nice guy. Used to write for METAL MANIACS and ran WORM GEAR zine.
There are a lot of others that are enjoyable who put out videos pretty regularly to show off stuff form their collection and talk about different aspects of metal:
Cloudy Milder (UK YouTuber, nice guy with good NWOBHM sensibilities)
Jurgen Aumann (German musician with a collection that's amazing)
The Dark Path (Matt does good deep dives on newer, more eclectic bands like SIGH and ULVER)
Brainsmasher (for all your black metal needs)
I'm sure I'm forgetting some others but these are good ones to check out

Re: GOOD YouTube channels?
Great list - thanx Alan! After only a few quick glances there seem to be some really cool content to be found there. Didn't know Metal Theologian was a member here. Which nick?

Ha! Never thought I'd see ol' Kenny and his collection of Poo Metal & Porno Grind getting name dropped here...nightsblood wrote: ↑Mon May 03, 2021 3:43 am
