Judging by the cover, I would skip this in any store and would never thought it is Made in Germany. Front cover jarring like DRESDEN only more senseless. But then again, finding good and cheap painter was never an easy task. The track no.3 is pretty good, the first two whizzed past me (based on one listen).

Glad to hear you enjoyed it. Creds go to Prowler for introducing them to me and tipping me off on a fairly cheap copy..

Thanks for sharing this DaN. Sounds really good on the first few listens. A side songs remind me somewhat of the Dutch band White Honey whilst the epic Proggy flipside has the singer adopting an almost Folky style of singing which works perfectly in the context of that song. It's like Grace Slick joined Omega or something.
Good find Mr. Prowler, hats off!

Sharon - the cover you posted is from the Mrch 1988 4 tracks first demo.
Don't know nothing about a 2nd official demo that was released for general public.

That's a different band. Lietzow is on ex-GDR territory (Rügen island). No way these guys could have played live in 1988 in western Germany.

About Abraxas, and according to an official biography of an original 4-page booklet from late 1988, which I have, the band released the 1st demo vampire is 1986. But you can translate , because I don't know much German.

vampire 1986 demo
shattered... 1988 demo
shattered... 1989 EP

Always funny to see how band bios could differ, since I wrote the old one directly after infos I found in the countless magazine features that they had. Still the year of the first Demo remains unclear ... they do not really refer to the exact date of release at all.

You are right. I don't understand why. In the biography that comes with the reissue of tomorrows world CD, it mentions 1988.
I saw this demo for sale only once many years ago, (for a bargain and I didn't buy it because I hesitated and then it was gone) but I don't remember the year it was described.

Many thanks for the review & share DaN.
This is a great 45, right up my street musically with both songs very strong & particularly well arranged. Heavy enough to satisfy, but still quite sophisticated & melodic, well played & sung with decent production values to boot. I absolutely hear the comparison you made with some of their Scandinavian peers. A nice find indeed.
I wonder how many people have happened across it & just dismissed it out of hand as likely being some throwaway novelty Euro-Pop based on the sleeve, pics & songtitles?
