In 1989, the Czech Black Metal band ROOT briefly changed their name to FUNERAL, as their vocalist (Big Boss) decided to get behind the drumkit as their previous drummer had left or something. So they recorded this 1st demo called "Messengers from the Darrkness" (infact the 3rd ROOT demo) under the name of FUNERAL, with Big Boss doing vocals as well as drums. Totally insane 1983 demo-period HELLHAMMER & SODOM style with that "magical" Eastern European" vibe that no Norse or South American Black Metal band could ever match. This is the sound of Ür-Black Metal, the big bang if you like. Ripped, restored & mastered from a 27 year old cassette tape. 9 tracks in 27 minutes (Whilst the ROOT version of this demo is only 22 minutes..more friggin' confusion!)
