70's-early-80's Hard Rock singles from former Yugoslavia.

A while back I promised to share some early Ex-Yugo HR 7"s. I finally got some time over for some rippin' so let's start off with these 2:

Picked this one up on pure chance since they looked sort of 'Heavy' on the sleeve, they had a female vocalist and it was cheap. Quite a find since the A side is an awesome riff-rocker! Only known release by the band unfortunately..

Though I never got a chance to hear it before I bought it, this was one of my top wants for months for several reasons: It looks heavy as hell, it's apparently a private pressing (from Yugoslavia 1978 = utter coolness!) and the title of the B side translates as 'Butcher'. This just HAD to be an ultra-heavy proto-Metal MONSTER belonging in The Encyclopedia! Well, it's not quite that, but a nice hardrocker nonetheless, including some really sweet riffing in the semi-ballad B side. Once again no other releases are known by the band ...and there's no GRIVA-relation either I think.

Looking forward to Tetrapak's reformation tour with Thermoss & Tüpperwaer. Thanks for the upload!

Hey DaN!

actually 'Krvnik' translates as Executioner, the one from Warrant (D) front covers, for example.

cheers for the rips.

Thanks for those uploads.
I enjoyed the A-side from Tetrapak very much (I think I have heard the B-side online some time ago and it didn't impress me, but the A-side is really a gem) and Grive's "Krvnik" is also a nice (semi-)ballad, although I (as well as you) expected the band to be much heavier. I can't wait to see what are the other singles you have.

Yes, Tetrapak A Side was great, Grive is OK.

Many thanks for uploading these DaN, i'm really looking forward to giving them a listen.
Opinions to follow.
Incidentally, where did the thread go where we were discussing these type of records (Nirvana, Grupa SOS, Yu Grupa etc)?
I've looked for it a few times now to no avail. It seems to be M.I.A. since the old site's demise. :?

Just listened to the Tetrapak A-Side & couldn't help but notice the similarity to Wild Turkey's 'Battle Hymn' from 1971.
Is it possible that the Tetrapak song is actually a cover version with the lyrics translated into Yugoslavian?

WILD TURKEY - Battle Hymn (1971) UK

Also found out that the guitarist on the Grive 45, (Mijo Popovič), went on to form the long running band Pomaranča. They also released the 1983 English language album 'Madbringer' under the band name Orange, from whence comes this hysterically un-PC slice of AC/DC/The Boyzz inspired Hard Rawk:

ORANGE - Honey, Let Me Feel Your Pussy (1983) Yugoslavia

They don't make 'em like that any more!

@bigfootkit:
Well spotted with that Wild Turkey tune. I'd say this is a case of pure 'riff-off', since the song structure is very different and there's no other credits than the band members on the label.

Didn't know about the Grive/Pomaranča-connection - cheers for the info! Never really got into them though - for album-releasing ExYugo HR I'd rather turn to Rok Masina, III Kanal, Metro, Apartman 69 etc..

Here's another 3:

The first Drugi Način 7" is perhaps my fave of all the old 70's ExYugo singles. Awesome folk-Heavy/Heavy-folk with some killer melodies & riffs. The B-side of the 2nd single is almost up to par, reminds me of Black Widow with those flutes.. Their later singles and albums are poppy, folksy prog stuff and not nearly as heavy as these early gems.

Bob looks like pure novelty-silliness with that line-up shot on the sleeve, but it's actually great hard rock with an early BÖC-feel. At least the B-side is very enjoyable...

The double bass drums gave them away.

Listened to all of the posted ones so far now.

Tetrapak: Decent.
Grive: Sounded too "off" for me.
Drugi Nacin: Really enjoyable.
Bob: Did not like it at all, specially the B-side, almost unlistenable.
