Autopsy - The Tomb Within
Autopsy - The Tomb Within
Anybody checked this out? I listened to it a couple of times and I like the songs but somehow it doesn't really feel like Autopsy, except for the last song. I know it doesn't make much sense but I think I would've liked it better as an Abscess album. I think the Horrific Obsession captured the Autopsy atmosphere better but this one has better songs in it. Hopefully both things will come together in the upcoming LP.
I thnk the Production of the Final Abscess album (dawn of inhumanity) sucked. The drums sound like reifert was hitting telephone books with pencils. The same producer Adam munoz (sp?) did the Tomb within - there is an improvment from dawn of inhumanity, but not much. the vocals are way to high in the mix. I agree that horrific obession had better production but worse songs.
The new version of Human Genoicide was pretty cool. I hope the can find a better producer for the new LP.

Yeah, that's what strange for me. I don't have anything to complain either, they're good songs but when I listen to it I don't really feel like I'm listening to Autopsy. Maybe it has more to do with the production that the songs themselves. By that I don't mean it's overproduced or anything like that, just the wrong sound for Autopsy's brand of Death Metal. It's true about the vocals being too loud. I'm surprised to read such hype for this EP since I think that even being 100% positive and calling it a good comeback (which it is), some people are claiming it's some sort of masterpiece (which it isn't). I guess it might just be fanboy hyperbolism, but as an Autopsy fanboy myself I can't share that opinion. I'm not saying that I'm diappointed at all, it's a good EP but still feels like something's missing. I'll be looking forward for the LP though, Reifert and Coralles have released some records better than other but I have yet to listen something actually bad coming from them.
