that I wound up with NUMBER 1 in the limited edition series of 2,000 cds.

What does this mean? That the guys at Metal Mind hate this album so much that nobody who worked there wanted the 1st cd in the run? That they shipped out #1 to Amazon in the USA and thats how I wound up with it?

I've never come even close to the beginning of a run in any numbered limited edition I've ever ordered before - let alone wound up with number 1.

To put this in perspective my DARK HEART cd is #629 of a thousand pressed.

Looks like Metal Mind are going to be sitting on a lot of "this Time" cds... for a long, long time.

Unless this whole numbered thing is a total scam and there are a bunch of #1's out there of course.

My guess is on scam, there are people who like this album. And longtime fans and collectors will want it anyway.

I don't even like this album and I bought it!

Its that completist disease. Can't wait to read the liner notes where they try to "spin" this frisbee into some sort of "misunderstood classic".

Hell, I have a pretty spirited defense for DIAMOND HEAD's "Canterbury" and even aor period RAINBOW but this one is the in the same class as CELTIC FROST's "Cold Lake": beyond any sensible defense.

Even when RAVEN hit the toilet with "The Pack Is Back" they did not stoop this low.

Embarrasing fact: t**s t**e was the first thing I heard from Jaguar. Borrowed it from a school friend's older sister back in the 80's. Made me stay away from them for well over a decade.

Hmm, Cold Lake is my favorite CF album by far, so maybe I should check this Jaguar after all?

Canterbury, AOR Rainbow, The Pack Is Back, Cold Lake, This Time, Never Say Die, those are not that bad.

Not compared to Something Burning, Demolition, 'Two', Dissident Alliance, Vandale's new song and other toilet drains.

I'd like to think that I have a high tolerance for "softer" Hard Rock/Metal even listening to the odd "Hair Band" at times due to a friend of mine that's hugely into that scene, but it literally took me 3-4 attempts just to get through the first song on this album.

It was just such a blatant letdown and I am forever devastated after nearly worshipping "Power Games" upon the initial listen.



EDIT: Just to add to the Amazon.com purchase aspect, did you actually buy this from AMAZON, or from an independant seller that sells ON AMAZON?

The reason I ask is because I have received bootlegs on Amazon way back in the past due to the lack of details the indiviual listings normally give, so...

I wanted to say that about a year ago I decided to listen to Cold Lake personally. I never had, the anti-hype having caught up with me well before I ever saw a copy at the stores, so I was safe. I hadn't seen the video-clip, I had only heard the stories. I decided I should listen to it myself with an open mind because sometimes these left turns of records are interesting to me. I might not like it but I could listen to it at least.

I got it directly from Amazon - not a 3rd party seller. It was actually on sale for $10.41 or something. I ordered "This Time" along with DESTROYERS - "Night Of The Lusty Queen" and the DARK HEART and the JAGUAR came first w/the DESTROYERS cd and then the DARK HEART came a day later.

Interesting what Stormspell had to say. Not only do I have a tolerance for a lot of softer stuff - I LOVE a lot of aor and melodic metal as well as a huge amount of 70's hard rock.

What I really cannot take is most hair metal. Aside from the first MOTLEY CRUE lp (which I think is actually pretty heavy and sort of a trash rock classic) stuff like POISON, NITRO and that stuff makes me want to throw up.

I just like my bands to stick to their strengths and not try to hop on some bandwagon because they think they can get more sales.

JAGUAR were a brilliant nwobhm/proto-speed metal band. They could have gone on to far more success by sticking with their original sound. Instead, they try this "dance metal" thing and wind up competing with a million other bands that are already doing the same kind of thing.

Sellouts rarely work. For every DEF LEPPARD there are a hundred JAGUARS or RAVENS.

At least with something like DIAMOND HEAD's "Canterbury" I can see what they were trying to do. Its a complex record with some interesting progressive touches and not just a lame pop metal lp.

You do realize that by purchasing this, you are only supporting the sell-out movement that you claim to dislike.

Never the less, wasting $10.00 that could have went towards an album that's actually good...
