Most Brutal release of the year...

Post by Destrozer »

1980
1981
1982
1983
1984
1985
1986
1987
1988
1989

Maybe "Seven Churches" in 1985? "Welcome to Hell" in 1981? It's hard to tell...

How about "Bloody Vengeance" in 1986? It's quite brutal. But Kreator were pretty wild too.
"In the sign of Evil" 1984? Or Hellhammer? Or Bathory?

I guess there should be a discussion about the definition of "brutal" but my vote for 1985 goes to Razor-Evil Invaders which is brutal in a hard rocking, bloody knuckled streetfighting way. You can't get much harder than this.

Nah, considering the use of a vast selection of devils and demons to create that masterwork I'd still have to go for Evil Invaders - an album that, when you think about it, would probably have sounded excactly the same if recorded unplugged! :D

Razor are brutal, but "Seven Churches" is just savage! The sound is infernal!

1989 from a personal perspective

Repulsion - Horrified
Terrorizer - World Downfall
Carcass - Symphonies of Sickness

maybe not everyone on this boards type of stuff but fairly brutal i would say

1983 the first Death demo (under the name Mantas) reached a total new level of brutality

If you go by vinyl-releases only, it's basically all classics - which is why they became classics in the first place I guess...

So, some here-here's, and not many surprises:

1980: SARCOFAGUS - Envoy Of Death
1981: VENOM - Welcome To Hell
1982: VENOM - Black Metal
1983: SLAYER - Show No Mercy
1984: ...um, SLAYER - Haunting The Chapel?
1985: POSSESSED - Seven Churches
1986: KREATOR - Pleasure To Kill
1987: PARABELLUM - Sacrilegio 12"
1988: BOLT THROWER - In Battle There's No Law
1989: *insert Earache-release of choice*

You could put the 2nd Parabellum or Blasfemia for 1988
now is the madness in hell
we're eat babies flesh
and suck the mothers blood next
we're perverse devils well
