TRESPASS (UK) - Demo 1983

Post by Dave_the_Boss »

Unreleased demo by this NWOBHM gods that isn't on the "One Of These Days" collection. This recording features two of their finest tracks. Tracklisting is:

1. I'm On The Outside
2. Don't It (Break Your Heart)
3. After Dark
4. Turn The Tables
5. Headlines

Nice one, I would say that first track is a one hell of a song! Classic Trespass sound!

Glad you guys enjoy it. Yeah, the first track's bloody awesome, as is the second one. I don't like the other three tracks too much though.

I like the first track and Headlines. The others aren't bad but you can tell the band was going in a softer direction by this point. Still cool to hear!

Sorry for the belated feedback here.

I'm really happy to have this in the archives. Has its ups and downs, but it's unmistakably Trespass... it bounces and swings in a way that is unique, and in my opinion the "magic" element to their sound. Even at their poppiest. Perhaps my favorite of the second-tier NWOBHM bands.

Anyway I would rank the tracks best to worst:

1 great lead/rhythm interplay throughout, chorus could be better
3 interesting chord choices, a few nice lead breaks and key changes
5 don't like the odd-time main riff, decent middle though
2 very bland all around
4 some borderline annoying hooks and moments in this one, the singer carries it competently anyway

Lineup? There are some very cool and competent vocal harmonies throughout this demo, which I don't normally associate with this band.

Fired up Foobar and the heavy metal folders on random and this enjoyable demo came on. Odd that they haven't released these tracks? First track "On the Outside" is very good, also a mention is the last one... I'm thinking that the final track "Headlines" is "Red Lights"?
