The version with Ozzy is defo superior in many ways & conjures up different emotions than Dave Walker's fair attempt. "Johnny Blade" & "Hard road" are the other two stand-out tracks for me. But the whole production of the album is just so paper-thin & Those "very-live-in-the-studio" drums make me cringe everytime.bigfootkit wrote: ↑Thu Nov 27, 2025 11:16 pmWalker was definitely an unusual choice for Sabbath & he makes them sound very different, but i've gotten used to this embryonic version of the song over the years (courtesy of the very same boot you mentioned) and i rather like it for what it is.malegys wrote: ↑Thu Nov 27, 2025 10:38 pm Saw this today too, couldn't believe it ! Had the audio on a bootleg cd "archangels.." for over 30 years & never would've thought i'd see the video footage. Recorded at the old Pebble Mill studio in Birmingham & presented by one of my fave History experts, Michael Wood. The band really comes across as a very mediocre bunch (except Bill Ward) on this. Still, heavier than Ashbury![]()
Having said that i'm one of the small band of weirdos who think 'Never Say Die' is an overlooked (if atypical) little gem of an LP & the album version of 'Junior's Eyes' is one of my favourite Sabbath songs, so i was likely predisposed to enjoy the Walker version.
Who knows, maybe the appearance of this footage will inspire Iommi to raid the archives for a long oversue 4 disc super-deluxe version of NSD?
Take my money Tony!![]()
Great artwork though (including the innersleeve art aswell)
