Yeah but the good thing about when bootlegs come out is the people selling legit ones maybe won't know about the bootleg so they might sell it for the price of a boot :D This has happened to me many many times, 5 original copies of INC the visitor for under 20$ each plus alot more. Although you might have to risk buying a bootleg but usually I just see what else they are selling to check if its a boot.

It's not always true. See the Merciless bootleg ! Sometime you can't just spoil the difference (Living Death ...) since matrix code is the same and even if you are able to notice the difference in the font used it's a little bit unlikely the seller will do a photo of it ^^

In the end: bootlegs are not useful AT ALL.
Ok maybe for the pockets of the fuckin bootlegers, that's true

Another problem is that alot of buyers that do not know the difference between the bootleg and the originals are giving the bootleggers all the more incentive to make and sell bootlegs and get alot more money for them. If people made them selfs more aware of bootleggers they would be able to spot them more easily. Alot of buyers just don't use common sense. It is just ridiculous that I see 2 merciless bootlegs going for over 100$ each! Insanity.

A guy in an italian forum started bragging about his 'perfect like new no-drill-hole" Hexenhaus debut cd, I told him it's the boot by checking the matrix code, he replied "impossible, there is even the big red H on the top of the cd itself ! It can't be a bootleg !" -.-

Sadly 90% of the people don't know absolutely anything about boots (and/or don't really care...).

This pesky bootleg seller from Azerbaijan is the sole reason I finally went through the hassle and signed for the VRT removal tool on eBay. So currently I'm reporting all those TARGET - Mission Executed bootlegs for removal. He is now crying on my shoulder asking me to remove the strikes eBay imposed on him with the removals - tough luck dude.

Anyhow, among the items I removed was one carried by fastdecision777. Don't remember if this was someone from this board, but if it is - nothing personal dude, just don't re-list this bootleg again, thanks.

How does he know you ? Anyway great bronze face he has to even contacting you and ask ! You should SUE him directly
He's the one doing those Protector boots too

At all, he's not someone of the forum, plus he's signed on ebay with an UK account but he is actually from Russia or something like that (just look at the feedbacks complaining about junk cds "coming from Russia") , this guy is one of the worse boots seller actually (I even use his list to understand which albums have been bootleged or not, you figure), if he was in this forum he wouldn't last a lot :P

He doesn't know me, he receives my contact info when I use the VRT tool to remove his auctions.

Good on fastdecision777, his id just sounded vaguely familiar to me.

I'm not completely sure but I don't think so either!Does the cover material resemble to the common Russian ones?

Yes. It is a thin, soft material.

Probably not. then again I was the first to laugh at the idea of Stratovarius LP bootlegs, yet eGay is brimming with $150+ sales, so what do I know...

I got one of these shitty boots recently by accident thinking it was a first pressing ( I didn't get it from a malaysian seller it was a guy from europe)
and the fucking thing smears if you put fingerprints on it and turns all brown like, it skips on a song, and they damage the booklet and back insert and the put scratches on the cd including a very large one to make it look original. The matrix number is mostly right but the matrix itself looks way off, extremely easy to tell the difference. Gotta love the paypal dispute system.
