I agree with mordred's version. Three epics in the same album would be a bit too much. Not that it would annoy me or anything, but I certainly prefer the Dominator version with Russ North on vocals and I'm glad they finally put it there instead of the s/t.

I can't agree with Mordred or Ion B since I find there already are three epics on there. At least I would count in Cloven Hoof the giant opener an epic, rather long, mysterious and moody with the greatest spoken part ever in the history of Heavy Metal (probably my favourite CH song). Road of Eagles fit well into the Dominator album and since we have the Potter-demo of it on the CD version of the debut, all is well in the world. Also I don't think Crack the Whip would fit at all in the AC/DC set list so it better stays where it is - to which I have no objections, even if it definitely is the weakest track of the album.

Well, two LONG epics would be too much then. Gates of Gehenna is epic, not particulary long though, but the other two definitely are.
I'm still glad that they kept the surprise for Dominator.

I think the version of Road of Eagles from the BBC Rock Show is much better than the one on Dominator. David Potter is the superior vocalist, and I don't like how they changed the lyrics to make it sci-fi.

Disagree on all three aspects

The first LP is the best for me, but Sultan's Ranson and Dominator are quite close in quality.

Voted for the s/t lp! Opening Ritual is divine as well, Stormrider is a killer but that "G.O.G." track will always be the reason i think like more this lp. The following stuff just never got me. They sounded too "non british" for my taste.............

Has anyone else noticed the slight Star Wars-influence in the lyrics on Dominator

And by the looks of it Russ North is back in Cloven Hoof once again. Sort of. I guess. He's gonna do gigs with the band in 2010 at least. They are releasing a new EP now and strangely it doesn't say who sings on it so I guess it's North.
Here's what the website says on the vocalist situation:
www.cloven-hoof.co.uk wrote:Mr Russ North has agreed to play a range of dates with the band throughout 2010. Due to personal commitments it was thought his involvement with the band was at an end, but circumstances have changed and he will be appearing live on stage with Cloven hoof at selected shows. Great news for fans of the "Dominator" and "A Sultans Ransom" line up of the band.
