Austrian Metal is rather an alien phrase to me. BUT, i must admit that there is one band from this country that has stolen my black heart more than once: MAYFAIR. Hardly you call them metal, they're better described as progressive music with many gothic and some metal elements. Their debut "Behind" is totally mindblowing, easily one of my 30 greatest albums of all times regardless of music genre. Anyone into prog stuff MUST hear them!

Innocence s/t is pretty decent sounds like much of the german stuff at the time but better than nothing I guess haha.

I would like to add summoning from austria is one band that should never be called metal I always see it called "atmospheric black metal" Its not even worthy of the title of metal most of their material is dark ambient at best not fucking metal.

Mia xara eimai file. As far as i remember i haven't even posted (!) something on threads that concerned Peruvian, Romanian or Pakistani(!) metal. So, at least half of your ''accusations" are not true. You can check it out. However, I have made positive comments on THUNDERWAY from Albania or SAXO from Malaysia and that of course doesn't mean that Albanian or Malaysian metal is great in general. I didn't mean that and i never draw such conclusions on similar cases.
Let's go to Austrian metal now and i will try to be short as it;s really not worth writing more than 2-3 sentences. I find the whole scene generally average. Bands like NO BROS, BLOWIN FREE, MANIAC, GREIFENHAGEN, INNOCENCE, BURNING VISION sound indeed average, typical and generic to my ears without necessarily being bad or crap. I just find them unexciting that's all. Unfortunately, two maybe three awesome cases such as U8, HAPPL or STORMWAVE cannot really make me say that Austrian metal is "fuckin' great". I hope you didn't explain the phrase "Austrian metal is an alien phrase to me" in "Austria hasn't got metal bands at all" because that's not really what was meant.

MAYFAIR's CD's are oop. You can score them on ebay, even though they are not auctioned very frequently. I don't think you'll pay more than 15-20 $ for each of them, if that's a helpful clue.

OK nothing bad i meant for you just teasing.But you are the first also to mention the GODS STORMWAVE and HAPPL just a great HAIL for this!!!You will permit me disagree about the musical value of the bands you refered but that's of course a matter of taste as always.As for THUNDERWAY a friend of mine asked if i had something about them?!?Metal Invader magazine offered once a compilation with a track of THUNDERWAY(!!!!) and this friend told me that they were so great!!So i wait anxiously for upload. 8)

BURNING VISION are okay, nothing exciting.

SABOTAGE -> good, but only did one 7" and a view Sampler tracks afaik
REWARD -> boring, ignore it
BABA JAGA -> great, but only Sampler Tracks
ANGELINA -> hmm, dont know them I think
SCHUBERT -> crap
HAPPL -> I like it! Very rare!

Just heard from a friend that the 2nd HAPPL album was never released. It was recorded, but never pressed, only 1 or 2 testpressing as said to exist...

Oh, yes, it's the first HAPPL that never was released! Thanks for correcting :)
GREIFENHAGEN can sometimes be found quite cheap, at least in germany. I sometimes see it around 15 - 20 Euros. Guess outside of Germany its harder to come by

I have never heard NEVER GONNA STOP myself. Actually it was only designed as a demo-recording, but the producer pressed it on vinyl without knowledge of the band! It never was released or anything, and the producer and his studio did extinct shortly after. So no chance on getting this one I think, at least on vinyl.
I dont know if you visit the german Metal Festivals, but if you do, you might know Bruder Cle (either wears pink bunny costume or is dressed like a monk usually). He did write the lyrics to the first MANIAC LP. Guess he'd be the right one to ask about what became of the band. He also did the austrian PATERNOSTER Zine back in the day.

Afaik Bruder Cle played in Angry Angels (http://www.angryangel.cjb.net/).

I have a compilation CD on which Happl appears with two tracks: NEVER GONNA STOP and DON`T STOP AT THE TOP...to be honest I find this quite average...
