The Corroseum forum (new design under construction)

That's funny, because I forgot about the demo reissues and am actually more interested in the new album. I suspect that, on this forum, I'm in the minority.

Have to say Nuclear Blast have done a pretty good job with the cd (haven't seen the lp yet). The demos are a completely seperate cd digipack rather than just a second cd in a single jewelcase, and the demos booklet has an awesome centre spread of all the bands rejection letters from labels back in the day!!!

Haha, really keen to pick up my copy of this for that alone!

I am fairly excited about giving the new recording a proper listen as well, although I think it's pretty clear that for most tastes around these parts the production has gone too far in the modern direction.

It's sad because the old recordings are just flat out BAD (no argument for having a pleasing vintage sound in this case), but it seems to have been replaced by a typical Sneap job - equally unworthy, some would argue.

Still, it's all about the songwriting in the end and I'm looking forward to being able to actually HEAR all those great riffs! The new singer also seems to have successfully captured the maniacal aura of his predecessor.

J, have you heard the cleaned up versions of the demo tracks? They definitely don't sound bad, really great sounding in fact!

Probably not B, just bits and pieces. The recordings are obviously not on par with other demo-level NWOBHM outfits though (e.g. Tyrant), which is a shame. Keen to get a definitive CD version of them anyway.

Just saw a statement made by Hell on Facebook that the first buyers on NB USA would get a poster with their purchase.

For all us non-US customers, is there a way for us to get a poster?

Dont be jealous, NB USA only carries the single CD version. Both 3LP and 2CD sets are "out of stock"... what an useless store!

Just noticed The Corroseum got mentioned in the HELL interview in the new issue of Sweden Rock Magazine. A most kosher & totally acceptable circumstance to be namedropped in the mainstream press I thinks..

Received the cd a couple of days, and have only played it three times so far. Mostly average stuff, but I love The Quest and Plague & Fyre.

i think im not ready to start discussing modern "black" metal and such here in the forum

So is everyone on the forum boycotting Hell since the record release?

I think the album is really great - the modern versions of the songs (those that I've already known and a couple that I heard for the first time on this record) are amazing. Maybe it took a couple of listens to adjust my ears to the more modern approach as far as the production goes, but this one ripps from beginning to the end.

My hat's off to the guys from Hell... I wish a lot of success to the band - it's rightfully due!
