Yep, because if you've paid those 200 $ and it's another bootleg from the "greek vinyl mafia" then your 200 $ are gone. You know that Solar Eagle wasn't their only rip off. So who knows what's planned next?

Yep, because if you've paid those 200 $ and it's another bootleg from the "greek vinyl mafia" then your 200 $ are gone. You know that Solar Eagle wasn't their only rip off. So who knows what's planned next?

You obvious mean that the ToI was sold by a greek seller.
Some years ago i bought a SOLID GROUND LP counterfeit by a Swedish seller. If i was thinking like you, i should never buy again rarities from Swedish sellers because they may be counterfeits. I also bought in Utercht record fair (years ago) Manowar bootlegs & counterfeits that were made by German sellers and sold both by German & Dutch sellers. Maybe i should stop buying from German & Dutch sellers, too.

I have not seen the copy of Taist of Iron you are referring to. If the seller was also selling Solar Eagle counterfeits, then i agree with you. A seller that sells counterfeits should not be easily trusted. But i don't understand the use of the term "greek vinyl mafia" because over years i have seen bootlegs and counterfeits made and sold by sellers from Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands, U.K., Russia, Mexico, Brazil, Italy, U.S.A and i am sure that i am forgetting some more countries.

Now you got me even more confused. A seller that is selling Taist of Iron is not to be trusted because greeks coutnerfeited Solar Eagle? Then we shouldn't be certain about the authenticity of any of the vinyls that are sold for high prices because they could be counterfeits by Greeks or Argentinians or Germans or whatever?

To get things straight, i also am mad about counterfeits. Counterfeits are (to me) the worst thing that happen to a collector. I also in the past bought a record that thought it was original but was a counterfeit. This made me more carefull when spending money. But from being carefull to not buying rarities without a solid suspicion, there is a big distance.

You didn't piss me off and i don't have a problem either with you or with German sellers or collectors. I am also not a rip-off, so i don't think that all this "greek vinyl mafia" can affect me as a collector. But i don't understand the hype for greek bootlegers. Bootleging is a business and as a business it does not have country boundaries. There are counterfeiters all over the world. Funny thing is that the smallest percentage is in metal music,
go ask the Beatles, Stones etc. collectors how many counterfeits exist and in which countries they are produced.

Seriously when I'd like to start a bootleg business, would I do the same stupid beginner fault and putting up the faked records week for week? NO! I'd offer a copy, sell it for 500 $, then wait 3 months or longer, offering the next copy and so on. This way NOBODY would smell the fish!
Although I'm doing a huge mistake while posting my selling strategies here.

Yes that's true, but, and I know you'll get me wrong once again, but the greek morons who did those recent bootlegs refined this dirty business.
This was the most dirtiest action ever. I don't care for boots that do sell for normal prices, but in these price regions it is highly criminal and not funny anymore.

Ok, now i understand your point & i partially agree with you. If the pricing was lower the damage on the people that got scammed would be smaller.
But you see counterfeits are just that, they are made to scam people to spend big bucks for them. I remember seeing in a Dutch record fair a counterfeit of Sorcery that the seller was selling as an original. He had a "bid" sticker on it he told everybody that the highest bid at the end of the weekend would buy it. When i told him that an obvious difference from the original could be seen without even having to hold the record at your hands, he was angry at me. You see counterfeiting is just this, trying to scam people for big money. That's one of the differences between counterfeits (replicas) and bootlegs.
