maybe you should just stop trolling some topics that you don't know anything....or perhaps, since you are expert in making suggestions, ask from laurent a distribution of snakepit for greece.....in other words:

"μαιν βλαστάς τζιαμέ που δαιν σαι σπαίρνoυν".....

"ι ιμημαθυα ινε χιρωτερη τυσ αμαθιας"......

I started reading Snakepit since #1. Yeah Hammerrfall was heavily praised at that time and I must admit I agreed with it 100%.
Actually I still prefer the old Snakepit during Frank Stover-era, sorry...
No I'm not saying the current Snakepit isn't any good. It's still a nice zine but then it lacks the 'fun' factor in it, imho. I mean reading the current Snakepit is like reading a book or some 'reports'. Too 'serious' for a FANzine, huh?
Maybe it's just that I'm not too familiar with the bands that the zine covers nowadays so I tend to get bore after reading a few pages....
Oh yes, the zine should be given a new name called 'Thrashpit".

PS: the word "Hammerrfall" isn't a typo mistake because I realized when I used the correct spelling it automatically turned out as "gay lover" in my message.

That's fine.... you know I simply wish Frank would have never gave up with it.... maybe I take Metal too seriously...but there's no chance to change me now at 41 hehe!!!!!

There's one thing to say about Snakepit though.

At first, it's an interesting read, kind of an encyclopaedia about the bands, with tons of information and lots of dedicated work...

BUT...

Sometimes Laurent Ramadier completely misses what a band has to say. I remember that interview from SOLDIER in one of those recent issues. The band visibly had something more to say than giving information about every rehearsal they did. But the interviewer completely missed it. And often the bands say more than what the question asks for, because its needed.

SATAN had lyrics about social concerns. Be they highly developped or simplistic ones, it was clearly one of the band's concerns, a concern it wanted to express through their songs. It's for sure not Snakepit's editor concern.

I understand some will be upset with my opinion, yet I think that despite all of its qualities and hard work, this zine still misses something important in my eyes.

Thanks Mr Nuke for this feedback.... I appreciate this.... this is ALWAYS better than getting nothing at all.
Well it's hard for me to say if I share some of this comment or not.... I mean obviously my concern is bringing the best interviews I can... I mean my concern as a READER and as a Metal reader has always been to have REAL interviews to read, interview where you learn something in every question, answer.... and it was something hard/ rare to find...that's why I enjoyed Bob Muldowney's work.... recently his partner, Mike Hannon did read a couple of issues I did -alone- and he said the work was totally great, and he wished Bob could have seen more.... so I have to think that there's more in my interviews that just mentioning every rehearsal a band did hehe....

I have to read that SOLDIER interview again and see where I have missed that famous point you've mentioned..... and see which conclusion I must make out of this....

Well, maybe I don't wait for the same things in a zine than the things most metalheads wait for. I always have been concerned by what a band has to say in their lyrics, in their interviews -if they don't have anything interesting to say, then they better shut up and only release their records, isn't it?-, and not only by music itself.

You seem interested primarily by "historical" concerns when it comes to music. More like a specialist thing. That's what makes Snakepit worthy of reading too. But that implies that the interview may lack questions -and answers- on other subjects. And I miss it.
I can draw a parallel with specialized magazines for musicians, too.

I still don't know how you work too. Maybe you come with a long interview and you can't go later to ask some more questions to keep coherence and to avoid sending the interview again to the band. I guess live or phone interviews are better for this.

Time for a new Metal strike with issue 16 having just been unleashed by the dogs of war! This new issue features as usual possibly the most in depth interviews you will ever read in the Metal scene with past Metallic heroes such as AFTERMATH, AGGRESSION (Canada), ANGUS, APOCALYPSE (U.K.), ARCHENEMY (The one and ONLY ARCHENEMY from L.A.!), CHEMIKILL, CYNIC, DEATH FORCE, DEATH STRIKE, DEVASTATION (IL), EXHORDER, FIRESTORM, HELL, JJ’S POWERHOUSE, LABEL SPECIAL (RAVE ON RECORDS!!), MASTER, SARDO, SCEPTRE, SINDROME, TRANSGRESSOR, VERMIN but also actual Metal heroes such as AGENT STEEL (possibly the most in depth feature ever done on them with original drummer Chuck Proffus!), CRUCIFIED MORTALS, FIRELAND, GAUNTLET, INFERNAL MAJESTY, HIBRIA, RAZOR (bassist Mike Campagnolo explains his return and more!), SEPTER, THRUSTOR and the legendary WITCHFINDER GENERAL!!! Over 106 pages filled with nothing but molten Metal, done by fans for fans!!!! And if it’s not enough to fulfil your appetite, there’s also a DEATH DEALER 2 song live 7” included available exclusively with this new issue. This Canadian Power Metal act were a leading band back in the mid ‘80s and were part of that new Metallic wave that invaded the world (EXCITER, ANVIL, RAPID TEARS, CULPRIT, JAG PANZER, WITCHKILLER, METALICA being some other names) but due to certain circumstances they never managed to achieve the success they deserved after the recording of two albums. Discover them again with those two exclusive live tracks recorded when the band was at its peak back in 1984!

Yeah 'm definitively much more interested in the historical side.... that's what pleased me when I first checked out Snakepit back with issue 1 with articles with TYGERS, DESTRUCTOR.... and I kept that formula because that's what I loved so much you know?
It's true you can easily draw a parralel with specialized mags for musicians like 'modern drummer' or whatever.... I really don't want to have Snakepit looking like "Hard Rock mag" or "rock hard" or mags like this.... I have NOTHING in common with that sort of stuff where you basically don't learn anything.

That's something a lot of people here -including myself- would agree here !

I still don't know who buy these mags these days. They're only advertisements disguised as magazines.

BTW, does any French distro distribute Snakepit ? NWN! is a good distro but I haven't that much cash for a big order to him these days. Or do you sell them directly ?
