really good example there,although is ousnds modern,for me,they keep playing pure metal,a lil bit thrash here and there with some new songs

Agent Steel's-Order Of Illuminati is so perfect.In my opinion it is no so modern sounded.
Omega Conspiracy is also great.
Sometimes i wonder if Agent Steel is the only band that made better albums
with their new vocalist than with the old one(John Cyriis) in the 80's

I liked some of the newer King Diamond/Mercyful Fate stuff, but not the last couple of albums.

And why not?Have you heard them?But in my opinion the 2 old and the two new(Order and Omega)
is almost equal as music goes.John Cyriis's high pitched vocals are very tiresome,i prefer the new Bruce Hall.If only the ''Unstoppable and Skeptics had a different vocalist these albums would been better.

Don't criticise me i love many ultra high pitched vocals like Solar Eagle,Salem's Law but John Cyrris vocals don't like so much.

I haven't heard the new stuff by AS, but the high pitched vocals of Skeptics made it harder to me to get into the album. I found them kinda annoying.

The last AS - Alienigma 2007 is horrible modern metal imo not worth a shit.

Previous two with the new vocalist are decent, but better than 1987? Absolutely not, at least for me!

I don't really like the modern Agent Steel that much full stop and that's not to say I'm completely against the style modern Agent Steel is just mediocre with one of two good songs per album. Haven't heard Alienigma yet but the people who have said it's bad and modern have generally liked the two before it more than me which I can't really see as being a good thing.

New Saxon is on and off good/hit and miss, I think Killing Ground is a great and the best of their newer albums.

Is it really that bad haven't heard it yet. The 80's material is indeed supreme

One of the first ones that came to mind is Pretty Maids. The only non-80s album ive heard from is "Spooked" (late 90s). It has a much more modern sound, but its still great stuff (especially "Dead or Alive")!

i just came to the conclusion that its true that Jhon Cyriis voice is love it/hate it kind of voice, i love it is unique, what about Toxik first vocalist or the Have Mercy early vocalist?

Hmm.. I'm recalling brazil's Holocausto "De Volta ao Front". Modernized, "crossoverized", different sound but totally rocks and makes posers cry and ran in away in fear.

Also in Brazil, we have Vulcano latest offering, the split ep with Nifelheim. I can't say that it fits on the "modernized" description, but, it real metal to the bone from a band that was dead for long time.

Kind Diamond is another example of how to stay true throughout the years.

Well, I try to avoid lot's of modernized old school bands so i can't really tell too much about it. with examples like Assassin and such bands, it just makes me want to puke at them.

Root indeed. Any band that can work in something nearly approximating alternative rock into a true metal band and make it WORK are geniuses (and Root certainly are!).
