Even though the price is nowhere near the LEATHER NUNN, this is still an insane price to pay for a cutout.

Yeah, Speaking of cutouts what's the damn idea!? couldn't people just mark LP's with stickers to discontinue them or something grrrr!

things were different in those days - no barcodes made it easy to change price tags so you needed a surefire way to identify things.

a lot of people weren't so anal about the condition of things either, more interested in the music...and besides the vinyl was still mint.

Indeed pretty annoying. It seems that this "cutout and drillhole-bullshit" was needed to lower import costs. You sometimes see it also on cd's.

Here in the USA Cutouts were very common and the ONLY people who care are Heavy metal collectors, As this means nothing to any other collector.

When records sat in a store and didn't sell, The store could return them to the distibutor. Now if the LP was Out of print the labels wouldn't take them back from the distro. So they cut/saw/drilled them. This way they could right them off as a lose on there taxes. At that point the records ended up back a "Rack Jobber" stores for cheap around $1.00

This was great as you could go into a store ad pick stuff up that was 3-4 years old for $1 instead of $5-$8. They were still sealed and new but had the cuw/saw/drill mark on the cover.

Like I said in Psych/Hard rock/60's/70's these marks make no differance in the price. ONLY in metal

There are some 70's LP's that this is the only way to get the record 99% of the stock was cut.

I have a few cut-out cd's, but luckily no such vinyls. I don't really mind it on my cd's.

That SV is really hard to find in mint condition; almost every copy I see is pretty beat up. That may explain the price

Seems like a drillhole through the barcode and I don't see that in the description.

Hm, I didn't even notice that hole, but I guess you're right. It's already on 143€ now, and it was on 127€ when I posted the link here :)

Here's one vinyl auction, are these really so expensive???!?
