Differences between original ICECROSS - 1.LP pressings?

Post by Khnud »

As seen in the Metal Mysteries thread, I'm currently trying to find out what the differences between the two different original pressings of ICECROSS - 1.LP are.

Both are on Icecross Records. The first, issued in 1973 was released in 1000 copies, according to the official website. I've never seen any official statements about a second pressing, only rumours. Please disregard the later bootleg, it is easily distinguishable from the original.

The copy I have was stated to be the second press when I bought it, but matrix number and dead wax code is exactly the same as the "first press" copies seen on Popsike. I've also been in contact with a guy why claims to own the first press, and his copy has the exact same codes as mine.

My copy is in excellent (+) condition, which seems unlikely if it was pressed in 1973. Either I got (very) lucky and bought an excellent copy of the first pressing really cheap, or the copies seen on Popsike are actually from the 2nd pressing, and thus mislabeled.

If any of you can shed some light on this, it would be great.
