N.w.o.b.h.m. 7" rippers!
Name your top underground 7" singles from N.w.o.b.h.m.!
Here are some of mine:
VIRTUE - We stand to fight : Superb epic power metal heavily influenced from early Tokyo Blade and Iron Maiden. US metal fans surely will love it!
HELL - Save us from...: Evil, insane, progressive, brilliant, relentless heavy metal. Most underrated n.w.o.b.h.m. band of all times?
CHARGER - Desperadoes: Breathtaking metal with a singer who sounds more Dee Snider than Dee Snider himself!
TRIDENT - Destiny: A power metal scorcher with an excellent mid-paced b-side make it a top-10 of obscurities!
DESTROYER - Evil place: More punk than usual, b-side is the ultimate devastator played by the band with the simple-but-fuckin-great name!
LOTUS CRUISE - Billy's got a gun: A personal favorite of mine. Very original street sound, both songs kill- i just love it!
BADGE - Silver woman: Uninteresting b-side but the a-side is a go-for-the-throat pure n.w.o.b.h.m. hymn! Unbeatable rhythm!
WIKKYD VIKKER - Black of the night: No words can describe the divinity of the title track! Average b-side but it doesn't matter at all!
AGONY BAG - Rabies is a killer: Brilliant mixture of differnt styles. Sick and perverted, but with an intense metal feeling!
EAZY STREET - Quest for glory: Outstanding lyrical heaviness on A-side. Mediocre stuff on b-side.
TALAN - Spellbinder: Enchanting melodic metal. Both songs kill! Buy,buy, buy!
SCARAB - Poltergeist: Fuck! This is heavy! HELL! HELL ON WHEELS!!!
Enough from me. Your turn now.

There surely are a lot of great NWOBHM 7"s, but also many lame overrated ones. Often they turn out to be quite lame pub rock or some bluesy 70's stuff, or Hawkwind-jibberish. Many of my favourite singles from the era turn out to be those of the bands that later scored LP's, such as Satan, Blitzkrieg, Jaguar - Axe Crazy, White Spirit, Crucifixion etc.
But for sure there are totally divine unknowns of the NWOBHM as well, here are some of my favourite ones:
Virtue - We Stand to Fight
Tyrant - Hold Back the Lightning
Sweet Savage - Take no Prisoners
Black Axe - Highway Rider
Reincarnate - Take it or Leave it
Marquis de Sade - Somewhere up in the Mountains
ARC - War of the Ring (well, only the a-side really)

Two of the biggest shits i've ever heard must be the horrible cripplers MITHRANDIR (both of their releases) and SHOCK TREATMENT, who doesn't sound metallic at all, at least to my ears. Also, the 7"/12" of outfits such as PREDATUR, TWISTED NERVEZ, IDLE FLOWERS,GYPSY etc. shouldn't be bought from anyone over the price of 2-3 Euros. N.W.O.B.HEAVY METAL my ass!mordred wrote:There surely are a lot of great NWOBHM 7"s, but also many lame overrated ones.

Yes it's the last one. Great single in my opinionION BRITTON wrote:Which Wolf do you mean? The Edge of the world band? The Sentinel wrote:
Wolf 7"
The other Wolf with the See them running/Creatures of the night 7" is quite good IMO. Not a masterpiece, but it's very nice melodic NWOBHM.
Long Live The Loud !!!
