I've seen posts from other people complaining that their ebay auctions aren't doing very well- lower than expected bids on cd's and lp's.

I've bought several things in the last few months that had been on my want list for a long time, but overall I've been buying less and less for several months now. I'm saving up for some other, non-music, expenses, and I honestly don't feel compelled to buy much music these days; I'm pretty happy to listen to what I already own.

I am in the US and there is evidence of people cutting back on spending, even for basic things like clothing. So yeah, I expect a lot of people will have to forego buying fun stuff like records and cd's for quite awhile. Could make it a buyer's market for those who can still afford to buy... of course those folks could probably buy the stuff whenever they want :) I'll keep an eye out for items on my wantlist but it's pretty short, and I won't be buying albums on a whim or just to check them out.

I'm lucky enough not to feel anything of the crisis. As it is, we have no clear signs of a crisis at all here in Norway.

So is it. Maybe the food or the drinks will be more expensive, i think i would buy not so enough. Or eat nothing. Metal is the only food i need.

On the other hand, one dollar is now worth over 7 Swedish crowns compared to less than 6 a few months ago, so prices on e.g. ebay have gone up. This has affected my spending somewhat.
just for being neighbour of the empire (coming down) the value of the mexican money is going down, and i dont care about the dollar....but the EURO!, im really worried about my trip to KIT, now 1 euro costs 17 mexican pesos!!! :?

also the records i planned to buy in euros are way more expensive.....

@humus: Yeah, they do know to handle a crisis :)

I don't know if it's because I'm a teacher but I haven't noticed anything in my financial life. Of course, I'm only 25, I'm not married, I'm not paying off a loan, I don't have kids to raise, ...

I don't buy that much nowadays, only the stuff that Steel Legacy, Arkeyn Steel, Shadow Kingdom and Stormspell release every once in awhile, so i can't say that my metal buying habit is affected (at least not in the way that it's implied by the first posts). The economic problem is not absent here either and it's been happening long before the ostensible worldwide crisis started and there are other more important things that are affected from the economic situation in Greece that buying 5 less CDs than i once used to each month, isn't really a big problem to me anymore.

Haven't bought next to nothing for months now, except 2 cd's which were mandatory. Has nothing to do with this crisis, need all my money for a new house now.

What the fuck I was talking about here? As soon as my salary popped to bank account I bought records like always. Maybe next month i'll start saving.

There are things that never should be discussed in the open. Drugs, racism, sex, religion, illness, death - all ok. But nasty record buying habits? No! Because my wife may want to put an end to it...

by now, I need to face the fact that I indeed should cut down on my record-buying-lunacy to avoid an apperently threatening financial disaster.. and I really can't imagine how that should ever work *sighs*

it's not the current financial crisis, more the long-term situation with exploding costs of living (esp. food), strictly speaking everything increasing except, of course, salaries

well if I really manage to discipline myself to that, a temporary "diet" won't kill me I guess  - should give some time to finally listen properly to all the stuff I already got instead of spending all on gaining new lots..

Okay, the shitty american economy is now effecting the Canadian Dollar.

I just finished getting royally ripped off due to gaypal's retarded conversion rates.

I think it may be time for another break in purchases for a while...
