No, this was outstanding cheap. Last copies I know (not those 3 on ebay) were always > 2000 €The usual" price for this one I think.
As it was from Rattlehead14 I did not bid cause I thought it will freak out anyway in price, maybe more people thought like this. Would have bought it for this price knowing that before...maybe.

It blows my mind what "collectors" will pay for some things. The Paradoxx record is OK at best, but nothing even remotely approaching essential by any stretch of the imagination. It's such a shame that people are more concerned with the rarity of an album than the actual quality of the music.doomedplanet wrote:Jim made good money with that Paradoxx even if it sold for that "low" price, close to 5X what he paid for it. The guy Jim bought this record from is an old friend and he paid $1 for the record.
Big ups for Jim, though, especially if he made that kind of profit from someone who will probably just shelve the record and not even listen to it.

I've never heard anyone say that the Paradoxx record is very good (never heard it myself).
People often forget that 'rare' does not imply 'good'. If anything it's probably an inverse relationship; many records are rare b/c the band was NOT good and thus they never made or sold many records. Hmmm, maybe I should record some crappy album, press up 100 copies, circulate about 25 of them, then wait 20 years and start selling the other 75 copies for a few thousand each

Imo the PARADOXX EP slays. The powerful uncompromised vocals are A-class METAL. "Live free or die" is a 10/10 US power metal scorcher, fuckin' unbelievable, first time i heard it i was like "WTF IS THIS?"
The two compilation tracks are great as well -man, you just can't ignore the blazing guitars on "Plan of attak", brilliant track.

It's a fine EP, but it's one of those rarities that I can't fathom why someone would pay $1500 for it. Leather Nunn's in that same category too - it's an OK record, but vastly overpriced when it comes up, IMO.ION BRITTON wrote:Imo the PARADOXX EP slays. Anyway, it all comes down to a matter of personal taste. One man's trash is another man's treasure and all that.

Don't get me wrong, i wouldn't pay 1500$ for any kind of record, good, bad or rare, metal or not. So, i can't say if it's really worth that money.xr2m wrote:It's a fine EP, but it's one of those rarities that I can't fathom why someone would pay $1500 for it. Please in big letters your last two sentences. I cannot breather reading your words about Leather Nunn. This is one of the best metal Lps ever recorded or at least there are 3 or 4 tracks I DIE FOR....It's a fine EP, but it's one of those rarities that I can't fathom why someone would pay $1500 for it. Leather Nunn's in that same category too - it's an OK record, but vastly overpriced when it comes up, IMO.

A matter of taste...as everything here in the forum.

I love the Leather Nunn LP, although i must admit that i've heard many times even US metal fans saying that it's not anything special. To each his own. "Mental Asylum", "Fool's way out" & "Taken ground", all TOP-NOTCH Metal for me.

I don't understand why you aresovdat wrote:So you're actually saying that there's no good or bad music and everything's up to someone's taste ?!?!?!????![]()
At least you could throw some arguments in instead of stuff like "this rules" or "it's crap" ...

I don't know if the second line was addressed at me, but if so, above, as you can see, i used -and i try to use as much as i can- phrases like IMO. No problem if you don't agree with me, you really don't have to, it's only my opinion and i would like to keep it.

Yes, one thing's one's personal taste but the other is if something's really good (in unsubjective term). in the matter of songwriting, lyrical structures, the originaly etc. I'm sure that there are great techno albums but I'll even take the Paradoxx MLP over any of them, simply because "it's not my style". Or for example one can pick a poor drawing made by 3 year old over Da Vinci's Mona Lisa because of his personal taste, but there is a huge difference between those when it comes to the actual quality. Or in metal, I will take 1st Piledriver album over Death's Symbolic any day, but I'll never admit that it's from unsubjective point of view BETTER than Symbolic.ION BRITTON wrote:I don't understand why you aresovdat wrote:So you're actually saying that there's no good or bad music and everything's up to someone's taste ?!?!?!????![]()
At least you could throw some arguments in instead of stuff like "this rules" or "it's crap" .... Of course everything is up to each one's taste. We're talking about music dude, not maths nor physics.

Probably you were saying things about Paradoxx like me now about Piledriver, it of course it's up to everyone is s/he (dis)likes something, but my point was that there's for sure a difference between a good and bad music (or art of any kind) that's above one's personal taste.
