Especially the first Malokarpatan was an Eastern obscurities infused mix between black metal and heavy metal. Later albums were leaning a bit too much to the heavy metal side for me.

Abhorration is like travelling back to 1987 and seeing Morbid angel play the demo-material. Darragh and Invictus productions has a very profound weakness for bands that sound like old Morbid angel, but Abhorration and my country-mates of Bones do it best.

Thanks for the praise!

I've had plenty of HM classics in other issues like Messiah Force, Brocas Helm, Stormwitch and such! Future issues will have more too. I just wanted to focus on some black / death gems after a couple more heavy metal oriented issues.

I'd say all of these bands have that proper metal spirit in some sense or another. Humus nailed Abhorration sounding like 1987 Morbid Angel, couldn't have put it better myself. Malokarpatan is a really interesting one - I actually prefer the last two albums BECAUSE of their move heavy metal feel to them. But then the earlier ones are great too! Darragh and Invictus is the most reliable label in black or death metal spheres for me personally.
