Muskelrock 2022 (Blädinge, Sweden 3-5 June)
After missing out for a few years, it's time for glorious return! Who else? Any non-Swede surprise appearances?
The line-up is decent enough - not the strongest ever (no token East-Euro act, and where is Thor???) but I'm not in the position of being picky - first post-Plague festival for me

Not coming, unfortunately. Life got in the way this time.
Welcome to our dream
Welcome to our night
I can make you scream
I can make you fight

Economy doesn't allow me to go this year, shame, looks like it good lineup.
Regarding the newer bands: I personally really like Diabolical Night, and some tracks by Eternal Champion.

Eternal Champion is one of the main events for me this year for sure. Unfortunately I'll be missing out on Diabolical Night since I won't arrive at Alvesta staion until 16.00.
again. Would have been cool to meet up.

Hmm.. unfortunately not one i'll ever make it to I think. My festival allocation is already taken up with KIT and ProgPower Europe
Remember kids, only high priced rarities are true...

I'll be there! Traveler and Century are "must see" when it comes to the newer bands.

Re: Muskelrock 2022 (Blädinge, Sweden 3-5 June)
The subtitle on the poster for this year's festival was "Den Stora Återträffen", which translates as "The Great Reunion" this was truly the case in these post-plague times - Big hugz of Steel to all involved. Sorry we didn't meet up laasgaardh..(?)
Didn't catch as many new bands as I planned because beer & friends, but..
GIRLSCHOOL - Don't remember.. was very hyped in general - probably great!
ETERNAL CHAMPION - One of the highlights and absolutely killer! Only wished they'd played a longer set ...or that I'd catched them a few years earlier and got to see more classics.
ALIEN FORCE - Classy!
JAMESON RAID - Not close to the magic of their legendary full-lineup gig at HOA 2010, but me and the other 2 dozen people who saw them had a great time while half the rest of the festival was watching the cover band of legendary Swedish r'n'r/booze/porn-rock artist Eddie Meduza in the camping area.
ACID - A huge thanx to Humus for lowering my expectations for this one some weeks ago, as this was pretty awesome! Them ending with "Heaven's Devils" was my #1 festival moment! Still bugs me that I forgot to bring my Acid perler plate and get it signed by Kate though..
HELVETETS PORT - One of the finest shows I've seen by this utterly unique and brilliant band. All factors included, perhaps even my fave gig of the festival.
OMEN - ...and this turned out to be my least favourite show I've seen with them, and there's been a few through the years. 1: the sound was pretty bad (too much drums in the mix) and 2: if you're planning to have 2 singers fronting your show, PLEASE rehearse the performance.
ARMORY - Space Speed Metal that I''d never heard before. Dunno if the screamish vocals were a cool strike of originality or annoyingly too much HC though...
TYRANEX - Zero originality aside, this was great full-throttle Thrash mayhem! Paloma would be proud..
NIFELHEIM - They should end every Metal festival ever ...and I will imagine they will end the very last one.

That is somewhat comforting as Omen would have been one of the highlights for me if I had gone, based on live performances with the 2020 lineup in 2018 and 2019. Which seems to have changed slightly then, as they did not have 2 singers then.DaN wrote: ↑Wed Jun 08, 2022 9:23 pmOMEN - ...and this turned out to be my least favourite show I've seen with them, and there's been a few through the years. 1: the sound was pretty bad (too much drums in the mix) and 2: if you're planning to have 2 singers fronting your show, PLEASE rehearse the performance.
Now I am less upset that I had to miss this year.
Re: Muskelrock 2022 (Blädinge, Sweden 3-5 June)
Glad to be of service haha. I'm not sure if this means the show in Sweden was better than their previous shows, or just that my friends are very critical.DaN wrote: ↑Wed Jun 08, 2022 9:23 pm ACID - A huge thanx to Humus for lowering my expectations for this one some weeks ago, as this was pretty awesome! Also when we're talking about Belgian reunions, to everyone out there, reformed Cyclone KILLS.

Re: Muskelrock 2022 (Blädinge, Sweden 3-5 June)
You could definitely tell that this was merely a cover-band featuring the original singer, since the sound was a bit different from the originals, but it was well performed still and Kate's voice was more than intact.
Re: Muskelrock 2022 (Blädinge, Sweden 3-5 June)
Thanks guys for the festival reviews. Don't think I'll ever make it to Muskelrock because family kids life bla bla...
Kate's Acid seem to fare better than I expected in a live situation, but still...it's too little and too late. Shame.
However, I stand with Humus concerning the 'reformed' Cyclone : absolutely the best gig I've seen this year so far! They K.I.L.L indeed!! Go see them, you won't be disappointed!
